Thanksgiving Plans

I’m sitting in my living room watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This isn’t going to be my living room in four short days.

It’s still hard for me to wrap my head around what is happening. It’s still hard for me to believe that I’ll be living in somebody else’s house in a few days and won’t be able to crawl into bed with Dave whenever I want to for a midafternoon nap. I won’t have my own kitchen to cook in, everything will be shared with a woman who I barely know.

Last night we went over to Meg’s for a dinner party. Since she moved back from NYC she’s been pushing for frequent dinner parties between us and she and her boyfriend. I won’t be able to throw a dinner party at my current place. I mean, I could, but it’d be weird because I wouldn’t be using any of my own stuff. I suppose we could still throw a dinner party at Dave’s new place, but I’d still be the one cooking and I’d have to bring eeevvveerrryyything to his place because he doesn’t grocery shop or cook or anything.

It’s just so strange! This has been the strangest, slowest, most fast-moving month of my life. I know that doesn’t make any sense.

We’re going to Dave’s grandma’s place for a late lunch/ early dinner today. Nobody is really looking forward to it from what I gather, mostly because nobody in Dave’s immediate family gets along with Dave’s Mom’s side of the family. I’m not totally sure what the backstory is there, but whatever. We went there last year for Thanksgiving and although they all bordered on socially awkward, I enjoyed myself. And the food was great!

This evening I plan on having my sister Alison over for dessert. I’m baking a spiced apple brioche dessert and am serving it with ice cream. I’m using the brioche recipe from the book that I bought for the first time-  I hope that it turns out alright! I’m sure it’ll be fine, but after I finished mixing the dough it looked much wetter than normal. We’ll see, I guess! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I’m also baking banana nut muffins for breakfast. They’re in the oven right now and they smell amazing.

I wish I had the cooking nack that you do!! I would love to have fresh food around this house! But alas, I completely lack the motivation and skill. lol Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! 🙂 Things with the move may be strange at first, but you’ll get used to it. Maybe your roomate and you will get along great & you will BOTH host a dinner party! 🙂 xoxo

I’ve been reading you for a while and I’m confused… why are you moving out, and into a stranger’s house? Did you get that job?

November 28, 2009

I wish you all the best with the move. 🙂

I’m confused, too. Did I miss something? Why are you guys moving out separately? Banana nut bread is my favorite. I can smell it now… So delish.

I just read the past couple entries…I am confused, as well. Why moving out? Is this when I have to be a favorite or something to have the whole story?
