Cars and Beer and a Shameless Minneapolis Plug
What a lovely couple of days it’s been! I took a sick day yesterday and am taking another one today because, well, I just felt like it. Everybody in my department has been sick at least one day in the last two weeks… so I decided that it was my ‘turn’.
Shhh.
Anyway, it’s been great! Yesterday I baked a loaf of bread in the morning and ate it with peanut butter and the honey that Jackie’s new love interest, Luke, gave to her from his own beehives. I also played Bananagrams by myself on the coffee table in my living room while watching PBS documentaries streamed from Netflix ("To Market to Market to Buy a Fat Pig" was my favorite of the afternoon). Later I joined Dave while he test drove and inquired about American V8 cars at a local dealership.
He’s all but locked in on the 2011 5.0L V8 Ford Mustang GT Premium. He really wanted the Shelby but couldn’t justify it’s $50k pricetag. Plus, apparently, the Shelby isn’t much faster than the GT, and the GT is $15k less. After test driving it yesterday we went back to his place and crunched some numbers and it’s definitely sounding as though he’ll be driving it as soon as the snow begins to melt, if not sooner. I think the only thing holding him back from buying it now is that he wants to make sure that he really, really wants it– well, that, AND he’s sure that his dad is going to think that he’s crazy as he just bought the Mazdaspeed 3 Turbo two years ago. Dave has a tendency to be an impulse shopper, and though his funds would definitely allow for a new car, he wants to be absolutely sure that he really wants it.
Anyway, it was definitely a good time. The car’s engine sounded really cool while we drove it and it rode more smoothly than his current car, which I really liked.
Today I have some errands to run and would like to clean the kitchen and maybe do some laundry. Later this afternoon/evening, I’ll be back at Dave’s to help him move the beer that we’re brewing to a carboy for it’s secondary fermentation. Next week at this time we get to bottle! I’m so pumped.
Totally unrelated: I found this in the newspaper this morning:
Why We’re Here: Twin Cities from Seven and Sixty Productions on Vimeo.
It gave me warm fuzzies. These are just a few of the reasons why Minneapolis rocks and I love it so much here. They only touch on a few things, but it’s still sweet. Watch it!
I dont know a whole lot about cars, but I know a V8 when I hear one, and I love how they purr. Enjoy your sick day!! 🙂
