Steps to help overcome your past

  1. Gest honest with yourself. Stop denying the truth and accept reality.
  2. Understand the coping skills you developed to survive do not work in healthy adult life.
    1. Feel the feelings
    2. Learn to set boundaries
    3. Ask for what you want
  3. Trust your own perceptions and stop living through the eyes of others.
  4. See yourself as a loveable capable person. You are not what they said you were.
  5. Come to understand those who abused you probably lived through abuse themselves.
  6. Get professional help, read books, go to support groups.
