I joined OpenDiary in 1999 with the moniker of "Clutterbug" and the original intent being to document the decluttering process of my apartment. After a short time, I reverted to using my long-time internet name of "Czari" (known as "The Royal Russian Redhead" in certain online circles) and OD became a document of my daily life as one living with chronic, genetic mental illness.

The re-opening of OD finds me circling back to my "roots" as it were but packaged a bit differently. I discovered "minimalism." That certainly includes decluttering but one of #TheMinimalists' maxims is, "Decluttering is so much easier with less stuff." Going forward, my focus will be my personal minimalism journey and how it impacts my faith and vice versa.

I don't do "pithy."

The above is part of a quote by Sister Monica Joan in the BBS series "Call the Midwife." The past year, beginning with Harry telling me in Janurary that Mother was "losing it" has been very difficult.  Keeping my mental health stable is a full-time job unto itself; add in a major anxiety-provokin...

...re: Larry. A comment posted to my last post was too long to answer in a note, thus a post on the continuing "Larry Saga." I married Tom the summer after he graduated from college in 1975.  I was 23.  Truly, a law should be passed mandating the earliest age for marriage to be 30. …

  • The Happiest Event of My Life?
    September 11, 2019
Beginning early this year, my mother began speaking of incidents that happened many years ago - some back to her childhood - as well as people, many of whom have long been deceased.  Through my new research topic, "Dementia," I learned this is very common in those with this illness.  Current inci...

The following article popped up in my news feed this morning (can we say "algorhythm").  I'm placing it in my OD journal mainly to recall it without adding another bookmark to my already huge browser bookmark file but I did find it interesting - especially as related to the author's locale. When ...

While re-reading my previous entry, I could barely believe that was only two months ago.  I feel like I've lived several lifetimes beginning in January when Harry told me, "Your Mother's losing it."  This summer, which I never like in the best of times - much too hot, humid, and sunny for my tast...

“The average American household contains more than 300,000 possessions.” ~The Minimalists I've heard this statistic regularly on The Minimalists' podcast. The number seems staggering especially given this is an average which would include mansions with hundreds of rooms (ok, maybe not hundreds bu...
