No rest for the weary

May 10, 2018
I’m up way too early this morning. Frigging sinus headache. Glad today is my day off. My Mom is still all but bed ridden. She had an MRI and has an appointment with a orthopedic doctor on the 18th. All we know is there is degeneration in her lower back which is pressing on a…

My neurosurgeon called.  He got together with my neurologist and decided that I did, in fact, have multiple small artery strokes.  They’re not TIA’s.  The are full-fledged strokes only in small veins in the brain, and that’s why they caused damage. They happened over a period of months last year....

So maybe I’m not exactly proud of this, but I’m not going to apologize. Before my mom went to the doctor for her sciatica the other day, I called there and explained what was going on with her moods—on the down low, of course.  I had to. There was no way I could have a…

  • Well, Hell.
    April 25, 2018
It's been a rough ride lately... First, the physical therapy.  It was a fucking joke.  They did NOTHING but massage my ass and thigh a couple of times.  No real rehab-type exercises.  This costs me a $30 co-pay for 45 minutes of not much.  I mean, the ass massages are nice (don't misunderstand) b...

Things have really picked up on my husband's end of the business.  Now he's too busy.  Feast or famine.  Always has been.  I'm so fucking grateful, though, I can't even tell you.  It was getting scary there for a minute.  I've only got one sale for April so far.  One.  And nothing on the horizon....

  • What’s up doc?
    April 11, 2018
I had my MRI yesterday.  I can't really understand the radiologist's report but it looks like a bunch of bulging discs and some other stuff.  I didn't see the word "syrinx" so I guess that's good.  I was surprised there's anything wrong with my thoracic spine at all.  That's the only part of my b...

I'm still grappling with that stroke diagnosis... The thought of having a stroke is scary.  The thought of having a series of them and not knowing when it happened is even scarier. The scariest thing is me.  I have to make some major lifestyle changes--all at once.  None of which I really want to...

  • Diagnosis #2
    April 6, 2018
I got a very unexpected diagnosis from the neuro.  Apparently I’ve had several small strokes. Not TIAs because obviously these strokes don't cause permanent damage or show up on MRI.  Mine were the real deal--just not massive.  Enough to cause some damage, though. When stroke was initially brough...

I’m happy to report that my pity party the other day didn’t last long. I think it was just an unfortunate multitude of circumstances that put me there.  I’m over it for the most part. Easter was nice. I had my daughter, uncle and youngest cousin over. I usually don’t entertain, and now was probab...

  • My New Normal
    March 29, 2018
Last summer, June or July, I started having these "symptoms."  It started with my wrists aching.  I'm talking a deep ache.  After a while it moved up to my elbows.   Then my toes.  Then my ankles and feet.  Then my lower back.  And then my gait.  My left foot/ankle started to turn inward. During&...
