I am many things to many people--parent, grandparent, friend, sibling, therapist, and writer. It is this last that I explore here in OD, and have done since September of 1999. I started writing Torin's story in 1984 or so and then misplaced the duotang when we moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia. I happened across it accidentally and decided to revive it when someone introduced me to OD. I've been winging his story ever since, sometimes sitting down at home with pen and paper and then transcribing here, sometimes composing here, as in the development of the Del Hodgson/Madlach storyline.
Writing is, for me, an odd thing. I watch the story unfolding in my mind--a mental movie, as it were--and try to write down what I see as clearly as I can. Sometimes I succeed, and sometimes I flop. That's where rewriting comes into play. One of these days, I'll take a chunk of all this, revise and rewrite and start sending it out into the world, or perhaps convert it into e-book form and see how sales go.
However it goes, I will continue here as long as readers enjoy what I have to offer. I like the feedback, and I like the community here. Life is good.

I still exist! Huh!

July 2, 2018
A client mentioned to me a short time ago that OD still existed, or existed again. Until today, I did not try to verify that, but here we are. I wonder if I can also find The Watcher's diary. I should be able to. I haven't written anything in forever. Life seems to have gotten…

I know I've been neglectful of my own diary, but I have come in daily (when OD would let me) to keep up with the more frequent posters. I'll miss this place. I wish the DM would sell it to someone who cares enough, and has the financial resources, to keep it running, but all things…

I'm probably one of few people who likes Comic Sans as a font. It's all good. Life is rolling along, doing nothing exciting at the moment. Still waiting to hear from the RCMP about the jobs in the Great White North. One of my references was contacted to set up a time, then called by…

I'm just popping in briefly. Life rolls on, kind of boring at the moment, but potentially with big changes in the not-too-distant future. I don't know. I've applied for a job in the Great White North, and have been through the written test and the interview. Next comes reference checks and a secu...

I try to do a Christmas/birthday entry every year, and here I am. Very quiet today. This has been a birthday with just me and my youngest daughter, and it's been nice. She made me a delicious breakfast this morning, and we're having a very late supper because I just didn't feel like getting the&h...

Not sure what kind of song and dance I may have to go through to share pics of my children and grandchildren. They've grown quite a bit since they first made their appearances here. I'll try facebook sharing, and if that doesn't work, I'll have to go sign up elsewhere. Give me a minute or…

I'm giving it my best after all these years, and have started an author page on Facebook. Some of you here are friends on FB, but many are not. Here is the link to the author page and I would be delighted to have you drop by there, share it with your friends, and help…

Rather than take the traditional route, since this has been in the works forever and a day, or so it seems, I've gone back to Lulu to publish Torin and Osgoode's story. I finished the rewrite into third person last night, and I hope it's okay. I've read it and reread it and there could…

Surely even Americans have heard of the Calgary Stampede. It's a week long celebration of cowboys and cowboy life--rodeos, bronco riding, bullriding, chuckwagon races and all that good stuff. You may also know that, by and large, Canadians are a friendly lot, generally polite and welcoming. So al...

Life just rolls on. Youngest Daughter is still fighting her way in the world, trying to find her path. She knows the safety net is here. I should go into the city one of these weekends and take her out to dinner or something. Other children are doing well, grandbabies are growing like weeds and&h...
