The worldview of Brits…
My previous entry reminded me that the romanticized (almost fetishized) image of the UK held by most Americans is not shared by the rest of the planet. My UK friends are probably the most anti-royalist you would meet. And certainly the rest of Europe has a rather different worldview of the residents of that island:
The Brits have “Proper English” and civilised leadership. We’ve got a monosyllabic, homophobic, debauchee. God Save the Queen.
@petersshadow A very small percentage speak with the RP (received Pronunciation) accent that Americans find “Proper English”. The Brummie, Scouse, and Geordie versions of the language are a train wreck. It’s like listening to Gomer Pyle perform Hamlet. As to their “leadership”, Boris Johnson and Theresa May are about as effective as the current Idiot in Chief.
