Well, for all the death-toll related to COVID-19, finding a good parking space is still a pain in the ass. Staying in automobile-free Venice remains a joy, especially with the majority of the tourist crowd absent!
Lady Wife and I have broken a record, having stayed together in the same place for a longer period of time than we can recall in the past 20+ years. Business travel and holidays having been on hold, we’ve settled in quite comfortably for the duration of the crisis, and have used the excuse to enjoy some fine vintages from the cellars, catch up on reading, and delve back in the archives.
We can honestly say that the social whirl that is usually going on is not terribly missed. We can write letters, email or Zoom with friends. But the absence of a calendar of events is an enjoyable novelty! I might get old in a year, but for now we can enjoy it.
