💉🦠

I’m feeling much better today — like 60% better. The Moderna Whirlies wore off for the most part by this morning. My arm is still achy and my hamstrings feel poisoned but I’m not dizzy and out of breath like I was yesterday. Today I picked up Mercedes who cleans for us on alternate Wednesdays but needed to switch because crazy cat lady asked her to come to her place yesterday. I think that’s what happened. Mercedes and I communicate in Spanish and she does not slow down for me to parse the nuance. I did my good deed for the day, which I guess I’m undoing by humble bragging here on OD about it but she told me she’d been having trouble getting a vaccine appointment because she’s doing it on her phone — mostly because she’s 63 and from El Salvador so la computadora, not so much. Anyhow I got her an appointment in the neighborhood and took her at lunch to go get her first shot. In perfect timing her second shot lines up with her next visit so I can take her for that one, too. Here’s the thing, if you can, try to help the less fortunate. She’s here on a visa, legally, and even still she lives a very marginal life. She has no car and is in a part of town underserved by health care facilities. It seems immoral not to make the basic effort of helping someone I know get access.

Shortly after garbage face (trump) got elected she was told she was being deported. Her temporary protective status visa was being revoked because of one of shit nuggets executive orders. Right? So someone who is here, legally, earning her own income and providing a service is getting kicked out because of a failed casino owner / game show host / white nationalist whose father never loved him.  Fortunately the situation resolved itself — at least for now and the frequent ICE raids that pulled her out of bed to terrorize her and her neighbors have stopped. I have some feelings about president pus bags and pray to baby Satan for him every night.

The pitch went really well yesterday and finally my writing partner is off the ledge of daily rewrites and anxiety inducing rehearsals. It was like walking across a floor covered in mousetraps. He’s been speed dialing me all day to day to “check in” and I keep reminding him that I teach from 10 am to 7Pm on Thursdays, as I have for the last 17 years. But you know. Sooner or later he might write it down.

It’s wonderful that you helped your cleaner.  My Caregiver is from El Salvador and I learned Spanish so I could keep her.  She is a GEM and takes excellent care of me.  She calls me her daughter and she sneaks food to my cats.

Yeah, Trumpty Dumpty.  May he rot in pieces starting NOW.

And congratulations on your presentation.  You have panache, so I’m sure you did well.

It’s awesome that you helped your cleaner. I would have done the same. It’s so sad that she had to go through all that because of Trump. I’m so glad he’s not president anymore. In my town a man who came here on a Visa and opened his own business was deported. It was so sad!
