Chapter 33

It was almost like being hit with a car over and over and over. Standing up and healing and then being slammed to pieces. Repeated over and over. Claudia almost lost consciousness as each person stepped forward and slashed into their own faces. It was as if they could ignore the pain, even as they cringed and tried to hold back tears.  And each mother upon her own was enough to cause her sense to numb. Each drop from a strangers mouth bringing a new taste to her over stimulated taste buds. She began to fill full, not as far as her stomach was concerned, but full with the thoughts of others… full with the reality of almost everyone in the room. Full with other peoples life.

She didn’t bear to look at them for very long. Their searching eyes, their hungry expressions. Several of the younger males seemed to take longer, their tongues lingering like unwanted guests in the corner of her mouth. One somewhat older man let his hand slide down the front of her dress and rest greedily on her breasts. She could barely think to shake him off before she was swallowing his blood and watching the next person rip at themselves. Soon it was all a blur and she could barely make out if it was a male or a female that was pressing themselves into her.

After a while she noticed that Anton and Lana had left the room and the line of those who passed by trailed from the room as well. She grew a little afraid as she saw the last row of the room empty. The chalices had lined up next to her, each filled with a collection of the remnants of blood from each person that had passed. The monks came by one by and covered them and were carrying them from the room when the last of the people took their trip past the exhausted queen.

The second to the last of them laid a soft hand on her shoulder.

“Claudia… are you ok?”

It was Diana. Claudias eyes had closed and her mouth hung half open as she simply waited for the last of them to have their way and let her be at peace. She looked up slowly with a weary smile.

“Diana… why did you not tell me… I….” Claudia could feel the blood caked around her throat and a moment of nausea wrestled through her.

“It was not my place to speak… It is almost over and you will be able to rest. I hope in this last moment you are freed from these bonds that have been wrapped around you…” She took the dagger and delicately cut the side of her lip. She leaned in and softly kissed Claudia, only a small amount of her blood sliding across hertongue. She took it almost willingly… it tasted the most like the first taste. The others had muddied and were bitter more than sweet. This from her sister was almost refreshing. She leaned towards the last chalice and one small drop of her blood fell into it. She nodded and made way for the last one in the room besides Johann who stood ready to take the dagger and the last chalice when it was complete.

Claudia looked up ready to forget this last face so that she could fall into a blessed sleep. His eyes ran right through her as he gazed at her through his long hair.

“I know you..” she said suddenly feeling energy surge through her. “I know you… who are you?”

“In time,” He said. He took the dagger and let it drag along the insideof his mouth. Two simultaneous wounds split open on either side. The blood pooled into his mouth as he leaned forward. She eagerly met him hoping to remember and reclaim her past. At the first taste of him she tried to search everywhere inside of her to see if there was something that would recall him, but nothing but blackness met her probing thoughts. She pushed in further, pushing her tongue against his sucking at his mouth trying to get every last drop from him, but the only fruit of her efforts was an erotic burn that traveled down between her legs and made her pull back and stare up at him. Her lips fell open, red and swollen from the repeated abuse.

His expectant eyes met her as he too let a small drop of blood fall into the last chalice. She closed her eyes as she felt him inside of her. Despite her lack of memory, she did realize that there was something different about his blood. It felt like she had absorbed his shaded eyes… but also something else. Something that felt like it belonged with her, but she couldn’t’ quite get a handle on it.

“I don’t know… why I think I know you…” She whispered as she cringed, a pain shooting up from her stomach. She felt fatigued and worn down and ready for another long period of slumber.

Just as she was about to open her eyes and watch as he left the room, a name whispered clearly into her ears.

“Alec?” She said out loud, echoing the voice in her head. He had begun to turn away but stopped and looked back. A smile glistened on his face.

“Look for me…” He hurried from the room, barely avoiding the Monks as they filed back in.

Claudia was busy staring at his retreating back and was caught off guard as the first monk lowered his hood and picked up the dagger. It was obviously not over yet.

Somehow she was able to withstand the last few crimson kisses and was more than happy to let Johan and Diana take her to her room where she fell into a deep sleep.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none”>It wasn’t deep enough to keep out her dreams. In these dreams the days that led up that night played out before her. EAch one imprinting back on her mind as a memory. She was regaining herself little by little. But there was no guarantee this would be enough. Diana looked down at her sister and softly touched her forehead with her fingertips.

“Please remember who you are. It is the last hope we have left…”

She leaned down and kissed her sisters cheek. Her face was aflame with fever. She was still changing.
