My potter friend FINALLY made an ETSY!!!!

FINALLY. She will be uploading new stuff as it becomes available- and things have been selling super fast, so keep checking back! Shipping is included in all of the pricing. Everything is dishwasher/microwave safe and super sturdy… everything is one of a kind!

Rachel is a painter by trade who got into potting just last year. Her mentor is a very well known potter here in the Minneapolis/ St.Paul area who encouraged her to merge her painting and potting… and these were the result!

I bought a really awesome mug and coaster for my desk at work. They are great as gifts. She also does commissions- she’s done entire sets, wedding plates for both decoration and wedding receptions, make-up brush holders/toothbrush holders for a lady looking for a unique way to spice up her bathroom- all kinds of stuff. You can choose your colors and the like. She can do pretty much anything

I’m excited for her!! Check it out!!

RYN: But men do have a right to choose. The time between meeting the woman and orgasm is the time during which they get to decide if they are ready to be a parent. By allowing a man to walk away from a pregnancy that he helped create we would absolve them of all sexual responsibility and I disagree that that is an ethic that we should allow in our society. Reproduction is inherently unequal because of biology, but that doesn’t mean that both genders don’t have a choice in the matter.

And your friend’s pottery is very nice! I don’t typically like painted pottery, but her aesthetic is really quite appealing. I love the chartreuse and turquoise and the salt shakers are great! I would offer one suggestion, though. Even though the jury is still sort of out on whether or not it’s true, pots with that much crazing (crackling) of the glaze are not typically considered to be ‘food safe’ for consumers. In raku and other decorative pieces it can be a really desirable effect but in utility pots it’s considered a fault. Luckily it’s one that can be fixed pretty easily by modifying the glaze (if she mixes her own, often just by adding more silica), tweaking the firing cycle, or trying a different clay body. We went through this for a long time with a new celadon glaze that Betsy wanted to use.
