Rent. *edit

I am PANICKING.

I just returned home a moment ago for the first time today. Before unlocking my door I noticed a business card stuck partway in my door. I pulled it out and saw an arrow pointing to a phone number- my building manager’s phone number. On the back of the card it said:

Rent? We haven’t received for a couple of months. Please call.

WHAT THE FUCK. I called immediately in a panic, but nobody answered the phone. I left a voicemail and explained that since the building had switched management I’d been sending it to the address given to me by him, the building manager. I said that my checks have been cashed every month within a few days of me sending them out- I pulled them up online and it looks like they’ve been stamped every time by a company that bares the name of the street that I live on… so I assume that they’re the ones who are supposed to be getting my check.

It has to be- right? I mean, the address was given to me by the very guy who is telling me that they haven’t received my rent!

I texted Jackie but haven’t received a response from her yet- the ONLY thing that I can think of is that she hasn’t been sending her rent to the right address and just hadn’t noticed that it wasn’t coming out of her account, or that maybe she hadn’t been writing her address ON the check that she’s been sending in (having worked for an apartment management company I know that sometimes it’s hard to match up the correct renter with the correct apartment unless it’s explicitly written out for you).

So, yeah, I’m really, really, reaaallly hoping that this is just a booking error on their end. I swear to christ if my rent is being cashed by some company or person who isn’t my building agency I’m going to flip shit. And I can’t imagine that Jackie hasn’t been sending in her rent. There is just no way that she’d do that.

Oh, god, I wish that somebody would call me back right now- I’m totally agonizing over this. I want to know what is going on NOW.

Running has been going well. I’ve gone running every day except yesterday- I was just too tired to get out of bed yesterday. This morning it was storming when I went out (thunder, lightening, wind, etc). Surprisingly I actually kind of enjoyed running in the rain.

I can’t think of anything but this rent situation. I should probably just chill out because clearly nothing is going to be resolved tonight, but I don’t know that I’m going to be able to! I need to know NOW. I want to know NOW.

When I woke up this morning (at 5am, from a horribly fitful sleep, filled with dreams that my rent checks had been cashed by a random stranger and the money was gone and I now had to come up with $3000 in back rent) to find a text from the building manager that read, "Our apologies. Bookkeeping error. No worries."

Phew! Now, if only I’d have checked my phone one of the billion times I woke up last night (he texted around midnight- I was in bed by 10) I’d have probably gotten a better nights sleep!

I am infinitely relieved, but am still somewhat curious about what exactly happened on their end.

Oh well!

Hopefully it’s just a slight misunderstanding and they have your rent!! RYN: thanks for not yelling at me for voicing my opinion and not thinking I was weird:)

Ugh. I would want to know NOW too… I love running in the rain as well! I get so damn hot when I run, the rain keeps me cool – and makes it exciting. LOL.

omg that is nuts. Glad it worked out. As far as running in the rain… I love it! Love to race in the rain, especially cross country… Good luck with that!
