Gifts and Video Games
So, I got my first Christmas gift from Nichols-Cauley (the firm I’ve accepted a job with), which was a $50 gift card to Outback Steakhouse. This means they’ve given me $125 worth of gifts along with two free meals and I haven’t worked a second for them yet. Doesn’t seem like a bad deal so far . . .
We also had our annual extended family Christmas get-together a few days ago, which I neglected to mention on the diary. The occasion went pretty much exactly as one might think an annual get together with extended family members would go, though I somehow unfortunately ended up being banished to be with beloved cousin Keith, playing video games for hours. This has confirmed several things, one of which is that I am still absolutely terrible at playing video games. Still, I have yet to figure out what is exactly so thrilling about playing a game (I believe the one in particular that I’m about to bitch about is titled Gears of War) where you wander around aimlessly trying to find each other for most of the game, only to reach a moment where you finally spot each other and shoot each other until one of you is killed (or, in my experience, until you are killed). I think the problem lies mostly in my inability to get sucked into the experience of the game. Whereas I assume avid gamers, like dearest Keith, are actually picturing themselves in a battlefield carrying around a gun and facing possible death, I usually more accurately picture myself moving my thumb around a joystick until I eventually stop due to the game uneventfully ending again. It lessens the experience.
I do still like Mario Kart.
That is all for now.
well, mario kart is rather amazing. and i think you should buy me something for my birthday. it’s only fair, after all. 🙂 (a digital camera would work nicely, a polaroid 7MP one. :D) and, I cannot believe that keith is STILL not grown up. does he still live with his parents?

I hate videogames. I may play them once in a blue moon (you can translate that to maybe once every 5 years or so), but I honestly just don’t get the point. ♥ Andrea

It ‘lessens’ the experiences. Just like your grammar lessens the reading experience I have with your diary every now and then. : ) ~I’ll be

I’m the same way, anything that’s not super simple old-school, and I’m totally lost. I guess I just feel like I’m wasting my time when I play them.

Oh! So you saw my message and just blatantly ignored me! I’m not sure that I want to talk to you tonight after that kind of insult! I am very hurt by your actions Matthew!

By the way… the earliest that I will get off of work is midnight, but I’m not 100% sure that I will get off then. So I might not be home til 1:30-2am. I’m not sure if you want to stay up that late. If you do then I’ll still be on, but if you don’t I understand. 🙂

I love super nintendo. My brother tries to get me to play his Xbox but it is so complicated and involved…Just give me my crappy graphics and simple controller and I’m in heaven! (Well not really heaven, but I’m having fun at least.)

I never get cyber kisses from girls but I get plenty of questions. I wonder why. Video games, like music, have many genres. You’re just old school, man. ~I’ll be

Reading this entry makes me think of the Gin Blossoms ‘Hey Jealousy’ song. I so chose the wrong career. Merry Christmas!

You’re not online right now, so I can’t talk to you in person. Is person the right word?.. Anyway…My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult is what I came up with to give to your mom. Again, not like you’ll remember once September or December roll around, but that’s my suggestion. It’s a lot better then I thought it would be. Oh, you suck for not being on, by the way. I’ll talk to you tomorrow?

RYN: I have known him for about 10yrs so the attraction has been on and off through-out that time. Plus we had a very good work relationship…sometimes seeing each other for 12hr shifts 3days a week. He is also close with my sister and father while I am close with his uncle, aunt and mother. The gift and attention would have freaked me out coming from a guy I knew less.

I stopped likeng video games as soon as they got 3 dimesnsional. Talk about confusing. ryn: yes, your probably right about seeing a doctor. Though the more time passes the easier it is to forget about it and convince myself I just zoned out or fel asleep.

If you want you call me sometime. My home number is 517.569.2039. My cell is 517.499.8094. I wouldn’t call the house after ninethirty though. PM, that is. I don’t object to hearing your sweet voice, just don’t be miffed if I seem standoffish. Because, remember, I’m very shy.

So what I really wanted to say was thank you, Matt.
