The Last First Day

So, as first reported yesterday, I began my final term at GC&SU today and things are going about as usual. I continue to have this annoying penchant for always either sitting completely separate from the rest of my classmates or in the middle of 5 best friends who talk around me like I don’t exist, but this is nothing new.

I also have two professors who only speak broken English, which is always a little troubling (though sometimes comical). Understand, I don’t mean that in any negative stereotypical way – just that teaching is a tricky enough thing when everyone can understand each other clearly. Though it is fun to learn that you have 4 midterms (“The first one is at the beginning of the semester, the second is towards the middle . . .”).

Anyway, Kyle’s about to start cooking for me, and I usually like to go give emotional support so he doesn’t decide to let me starve to death, so I’ll cut this entry off midway. I have more to jabber about though, so perhaps another update soon.

I completely understand. My Intro to Econ teacher doesn’t speak English very well, so she is very hard to understand. Luckily she just reads off her powerpoint slides. In that class, we have 3 midterm tests and a final test. I had to work very hard not to laugh when I saw that. I also don’t know anybody in my class, so people talked over my head as if I didn’t exist, which always makes me feel good about myself!

you said jabber. that’s funny.

The First Last Day. Of course only you would think about those things. Now I’m going to think about that when I go back to school on Tuesday. Talk about sentimental madness. So, cute accent boy. Sorry for calling you in the midst of crazy drama and musical chairs. I’ll be sure to give you my undivided attention tonight. Just wait and see.

..I think I might be back.I hope this final term is suitably lively/understated, depending on what you want 🙂 xx

ryn: yes, good criticism, I agree that the experiment is very limited and deals with a very specialized kind of “choice” and so only casts doubt on one small example of “free will” and doesn’t say anything about “free will” in general. I may have made too much of it. But it is one island of data in a sea of philosophy. I’ll go on more about this in a future entry. Davo

ryn: He seemed fine, yeah. He’s just not known for remaining in England for any amount of time. I can believe I’m 19 most of the time, though I was better at believing I was 19 when I was 16 and for whatever stupid reason got IDed a whole lot less, ie, never.
