Day 180/Day 30 IT’S HOT! But Not As Hot As It’s Going To Be.

99°at 4:00🕓 but scheduled to get to 103° before it’s over.  And today’s the coolest under next Wednesday, when it’s predicted to be 99°.  Of course that could change, but I so hope it’s accurate: Wednesday 99°, Thursday 97°, Friday 96°, Saturday 94°.  And fingers crossed that the downward trend continues, right down to the 80s, the low 80s, for the sweet fall weather.  I was just thinking that September is equinox month.  Autumnal equinox around the 21st, when the day and night is of equal length.  With any luck, that will definitely signal cooler temperatures!

I was sure that Best Buy said my printer would be ready today, so I made arrangements for my granddaughter to come take me.  But the email announcing its arrival didn’t come in yesterday, nor this morning.  So I checked status only to find that it won’t be here until the 11th.  Luckily that’s not really a problem since the new computer won’t be here until the 12th.  So instead I went to Winco to do some grocery shopping.  My goodness prices have gone up! 😱  Or maybe it’s just because I buy a whole lot of everything I get since I’m never sure when I will be able to get back.  And then they’ve revamped their bulk section since I was last there, & they no longer have chia seeds or almond flour in bulk, which was the main reason I chose that store to go to.  Either road, I spent way more money than I thought AI would.

I got my granddaughter to park in the shade so it was a trek into the store.  And then I wandered all over it looking for what I needed.  And the trek back out to the car.  Got all three big bags & the 4 gallons of filtered water out & set them on the lawn so she could get going, then made 4 trips getting everything into the house.  So I reckon I got my walking done for today.  It was already 80°when I got up this morning — so hot the cats didn’t argue with me about coming into the house.

I realize this journal isn’t very exciting when mostly what I talk (whinge) about is the heat.  But when it’s this hot, it’s all I can think about.  Bear with me — I’ll be more interesting by the end of the month.  (I hope!)

It’s 71 here where I live and it’s 4:35 pm

You are more then welcome to come here and sit in my yard…nice wind sort of and not hot and  it’s a lot cooler in the shade.

@jaythesmartone Oh you’re making me cry!  I would love to get out of here, at least till the middle of September, when I assume we would slide into fall.  But I can’t afford it, & who can travel with the bloody virus rampaging through?  But I’ll think about you — just knowing it’s not so bad everywhere helps.

Understandable that you write about the heat and it’s not boring.  Heat really impacts your life which it would mine too.  Some people like hot weather but most don’t.  Are there rattlesnakes where you live?

@wildrose_2

I have never seen a rattle snake here.

@wildrose_2 Probably, but they tend to stay in less crowded areas.  Mostly.  Of course when it’s hot, & there’s a drought, the critters all come down out of the hills and along the American River corridor, looking for shade & water & prey.  Hey!  Maybe the rattlesnakes will decimate the wild turkey population, which is becoming quite a problem given that there’s no natural predators.  Win-win!

@ghostdancer Once in a while we will see wild turkeys in our parking lot at work.  It’s next to a ravine forested area.  Wild turkeys are big!

It’s hot here too. Way too hot! Writing about the weather when the temperatures are soaring seems like a way to unload. I’m not sure where you live, but your weather sounds close to the weather we have here. Yesterday it was 115 degrees in Phoenix!

@kotila I live in the Sacramento suburbs, on the east side, towards the foothills of the Sierras.  But not close enough — our weather is always at least 5 degrees hotter than the foothills, sometimes 10.  But you’ve got us beat, that’s for sure!

Even though CA is a neighboring state, I know so little about it. I wish I could spend some time visiting CA, but I don’t trust my car and I really can’t afford it. Please try to stay cool.

We had a heat index of 111 one day last week. I couldn’t even sit on the porch with the fan blowing  on me at high speed.  Furnace air! Nice if it had been 35 degrees out.

This is rather scary weather because it’s getting into September.  Methinks it’s just one more sign of global warming!

Hang in there. Fall is coming!

@queenofegypt It can’t get here fast enough for me!
