Firing Direct TV

I am so tired of loosing my TV every time it rains hard or if snow is on it….. If it is bad storms out I need to be able to hear the weather the most…and poof it is gone every time! I tried them for a year. I hate the ugly dish on the roof! Time to fire and replace… today is a perfect day to do it.

It has been a slow day so it is time to spice it up hahaha

so what are you going to do and who are you going to use?  Can you get “optic” TV?  We have that but not sure how much it is and what channels it will give you.

@jaythesmartone no we do not have optic but we have 3 or 4 other options here. going with a cable and not a satellite for sure

I have always wondered if satellite TV would be better than cable. My cable TV company also provides internet and phone for an additional cost. This is one of my biggest expenses. I have tried several times to get by without cable TV, only to have the service turned back on. I don’t know how many times it will take for me to understand that I need these services, though I don’t have phone service with them (I use my cell phone).  With all that snow, I can see why you’d want to switch to cable.

@kotila we have only had 2 snows that were short lived but if snow gets on them you have to knock it off or spray it off with a hose like we have too… not a fun it is rain that always takes it out if there is hard rain 🙁

You should consider cutting the cord and just getting Internet, and subscribing to a few streaming services. Hulu now does news. However, if you don’t have a smart TV, you’ll need a fire stick or a Roku box.

@justamillennial there are too many stations we watch. I like soaps 🙂 and can news sports and all the movie channels worth 100 a month to me

We ditched cable years ago for livestreaming. And, don’t laugh, but we got an antennae for local channels for news. The new ones are small and nobody notices it unless I point it out. Our bill…$0

@celestialflutter I know people who do that too

It took us a long time, but we finally migrated to using Amazon Fire for our internet and TV, and we are so happy that we cut the cord with both cable and Dish. They wouldn’t come get the dish we have on our roof because it’s so old that they can’t use it; they advised us leaving it where it is because it’s not in the way and it might take a few shingles off when it’s removed. Anyway, we love having Hulu and Netflix and Amazon Prime and don’t miss network television at all. I hope it’s the same for you.

@darkmadonna  we love our movies and weekly programs I will not give up cable I just do not want satellite

I couldn’t stand having satellite. And when we asked for some assistance when something knocked it out of place, they wanted to charge $100, on top of our monthly fees. Went right back to cable. Now I don’t do any of it. I watch everything online. 😛
