Tax time

we hired a new accountant  because we wanted one closer to where we live… our other one is 60 miles away.  Kinda a pain in the butt during tax time!

We are unclear how horrible it will be since  Trump fooled with the taxes…. most people I know are paying out of the ass this year because his tax breaks hurt more than help

our new gal is working on them as I type this so fingers crossed we at least break even lord knows we pay ungodly amount in taxes to start with!

PS anyone who lives in the USA and who has already filed taxes…how did your taxes change this year? for the better, for worse, or no change????

@jaythesmartone at times we do… we go in an alter the amount of taxes taken out a few times a year trying to make it where we break even. just not sure how things will go this year.  we are kinda the tax bracket that is getting the worst end of the deal

Far, far worse. I’m in a higher bracket this year, and all my deductions have turned into a joke. I had used exemptions to get more money and get less back before the “tax break” BS. I fot less than $30, after getting $900 last year. Quite a drop off, and I’m not even middle class.

@poisonnoir I am afraid we will have to pay thousands 🙁 our lady is going thru our deductions and many aren’t going to help this year. we are in a high tax bracket so it is iffy which way it will go

Good luck with your new accountant.

I hope that you end up with a nice sized tax return.

@justamillennial that won’t happen but thank you. our goal is to just not have to pay

I have no idea I’m dreading what our accountant says. Like you said I’ll be happy to break even, but I don’t know yet.

@dancingthrough we want our finished early this week because if the government closes that will delay the IRS

The year before I retired I paid taxes of $88,000.  The first year of my retirement I paid $35,000.  A bit more than half goes to fund the national healthcare system.

@trunorth we pay oodles in taxes per week.  in USA we pay 1/3 of income in taxes. I would be more than happy if that is all we had to pay. the trick is to try to have enough taken out per week so you don’t have a huge chunk to pay in April
