Ok, just got off the phone with mom a little bit ago.  I think its time for us to start talking to a lawyer and requesting medical records.  Im calling BS on everything they are saying and doing and I think we are on the verge of suing for negligence.

The surgeon came in this morning, asked mom if she has been told the results of Fridays test (blood clots/hole in heart) she said yes and the surgeon said “Well apparently that’s what caused all this and theres nothing we could have done”  We don’t know if that means from the stroke on, the fevers and having to be sedated…..we don’t know.  Regardless, why did it take them a month to do that test?  Why didn’t they do the test before the surgery?  They did a test that determined if he could have the stint or not.  I asked that fking doctor on Friday why these clots and such hadn’t shown up previously on the tests they had done, why we were all of a sudden hearing about the clots and the hole and he said it was because they hadn’t done a test as sensitive as the one they did on Friday.  Well why the hell not?!?!?!?  We have been asking for a month why he is going through the things he is and they kept saying “I dunno” why did it take a fking month for them to figure out what was going on?!?!?!

WHAT IF all of this could have been prevented?

On top of that, they arent bathing him any more, he stinks, this morning we found a used empty syringe just laying between his chest and his arm and not connected to anything, mom asked why it was there and the nurse wasn’t sure and threw it away, the other day he used the restroom and apparently they didn’t clean him for a long while, about 3 hours, it had started to dry and cause his ass to itch.  We told the nurse at 6 this morning about his wrist, she said she’d tell someone, went back in at 8 and mom told the nurse again, again she has said she will tell someone.  FKING DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Plus theres that whole small detail of if they were monitoring his brain during surgery or not and if they were and that’s when he had his stroke then why didn’t they do what needed to be done to stop it??  The neurologist told me he wasn’t sure if they were monitoring his brain during the surgery or not.  To me, common sense says, if Im the neurologist and this patient just had a stroke I wanna try to figure out when.  We’ve asked when it happened and they cant give us an answer, well, if you go back and check out his brain activity during surgery(like you had told us would be happening) then you would be able to determine if it happened then or at some point during recovery.  Besides, why did it take 2 days to check and confirm that he had a stroke?  Why not do that right away?

The nurse pissed mom off, she was rude and basically asked mom if this was dads normal behavior or if she needed to call someone from psych down to evaluate him.  Yes, this is normal behavior, he is ready to go home, hes frustrated and is complaining about things that he has been complaining about since he woke up.  So mom told her he was a difficult patient and no he didn’t need to be evaluated.  I mean, yes he has talked out of his head a bit, but for the most part, hes just being dad.

There are so many things that Im so pissed off about right now.  So pissed off.

Aww…it’s hard for me to hear that kind of stuff because I’m a (good) nurse and not all hospitals and/or nurses/doctors are like that, you know? What kind of floor is he on now? Not in ICU anymore? I’m curious to know because he should be being taken care of better than that!!! I’m sorry for your troubles. *HUGS from a GOOD nurse*
