23

I was 23 in ’85.  I had just gotten out of the Navy and was living in Providence, Rhode Island:

i painted our apartment in two shades of grey. it was a restful place.

We had been living in Maine, near the shipyard that built my ship (hard to believe that it’s 23 years old now).

We had the only new vehicle I’ve ever owned, this 1984 Toyota 4×4 truck:

above wiscasset maine.

I drove this truck across the country three times.  Up and down both coasts more times than I remember right now.  Canada.  Mexico.

Wish I still had it.

Yup.  Once I was a jet engine mechanic.

Now, I’m a school bus driver elementary school educator.  I’m a newspaper distributor on the weekends too.

I generally like my life… It’s been interesting.

heh.

It could be worse.

Toyota made vehicles seem to last forever. I had a Toyota pick up truck that was still running long after rust had eaten through most of the side.

New vehicles are wonderful…sounds like you got a whole lot of fun out of the miles you put on the Toyota. You didn’t have to cross out educator…it takes a whole community to educate.

Always love to see you! It could definitely be worse, my friend. You are always moving forward, and you usually seem generally happy, and that’s what counts 🙂

Yep, you could be a homeless drunk living on the street, or a victim of the sunami that hit the Solomons last week.it washed away whole villages, and there people…. but there you are safe and sound it your apartment, with good food to eat, and a roof over your head! Being thankful and counting your blessings is a great way to stay cheerful!!It certainly wards off depression!

sh*t eatin grin and the devil in your eye in the last pic. how come?
