A New Plan B
One nice thing about being on medication is it helps me to NOT panic and to NOT worry overly much. They denied my application for disability; we "appealed" by asking for Reconsideration of Denial; that got shot down too.
This was not unexpected; I have done this before.
My Disability Rep called me this afternoon; they are in it "for the long haul". The next step is to request a hearing. My Rep was surprised at my attitude, after she told me that it could be 10 months to a year before we get the hearing. I had heard that waits for hearings were up to 2 or even 3 years; she was surprised that I wasn’t upset (people usually are to find that so much time will go by before they get an "Approved" or a Denial).
So, that’s the new Plan B, a back-burner, maybe it’ll happen maybe it won’t exercise.
Plan A becomes working with the job developers to find a way to make some money. That’s more likely to happen, and sooner, than waiting for Disability, whose aim is to make you give up, or die waiting.
Onwards.

Long haul indeed. Yes 10-12 months is better than 2-3 years. Disgusting the way the system is ran! They deny disabled people all the time. One meets the rigid criteria and they still deny them. Our country tis a theif. < hey, I just made that up!

Many, many people go through 2-3 denials and appeals before they get it. This is pretty normal. And a hearing is a good thing. You’ll get to tell your side of the story in front of the Social Security judge.

As long as there is a Plan B, things are ok. The right job could be pretty fulfilling for lots of reasons, some of them social.

Well, in the meantime, I think you have the best plan for moving forward, and if the DDS comes thru, we can celebrate. Keep the faith my friend.
