Clackamette Park

 Ah, it looks like another record-setting winter.  Last month was looking like "The Driest December Ever", until it began raining in the last week of the year.  It has become a more likely winter, as one storm after another comes in off the Pacific.  Yesterday was a rare dry day; I went down to the junction of the Clackamas and Willamette rivers.

The Willamette River is Oregon’s largest and longest river.  The Columbia River is larger and longer, flowing from British Columbia, Canada to the Pacific Ocean, and it forms the northern border of the State of Oregon, but the Willamette originates in Oregon and flows mostly north through the state’s Willamette Valley.  The snows and rains falling in the Cascade Range feed the Willamette and the Clackamas rivers, and both have reached or passed Flood Level.  Clackamette Park sits at the junction of the two rivers, a popular campgrounds and boat landing.

This park sits on the rivers between Gladstone and Oregon City.  From here I went south a mile or so; the next picture set is from beneath the I-205 bridge, crossing the Willamette.
