Driving 1 ss
The road to Stonehenge.
I love driving. This 2009 Dodge Caliber is one of the nicest cars I’ve ever driven, and is the nicest car I’ve ever owned. It rides well and is steady at any speed. The rental Caliber we had in 2007 I drove at 95 mph and it felt pretty much the same at 55 as it did at 95 – my passenger was amazed when I told her how fast we were going. I may have pushed my black car to 80 miles an hour, but unlike my past cars, I haven’t yet maxed it out to see how fast it would go. Time enough for that – I plan to make this the last automobile I buy.
Yesterday morning, I drove out to Stonehenge, seen in the previous slideshow. It was gray and almost cold here in Portland, and I drove out from under the clouds near The Dalles and into the sun:
I wrote an entry the other night talking about the fine stereo my car has in it, and I feel kind of dishonest; most of the day yesterday, I drove in silence, no music, and just appreciated the sights I was seeing.
It didn’t take long to not miss the passenger who was supposed to go with me; by the time I got to The Dalles, I had forgotten her.
Next up, a slideshow of the Oregon outback, then a series on the Deschutes river canyon I drove through on the Warm Springs Resvervation, a place I had never been before.
