Multnomah Falls, end of the year look
Yesterday, I got up at mid-night and drifted downtown to get the papers, nearly 1100 of them. It was raining off and on, so the rainsuit that the boss gave me last year has been very useful. I felt no need to hurry – hell, I even stopped by at my apartment one third of the way through the route (I have a rack in the parking lot across the street) and gave Blacky some food and had a cup of coffee myself. I finished up the rest of the route and was home again by 5:30, and in bed within an hour of that.
I got up over an hour before I had to leave to pick up the Dolphin and ate and showered and gave the van a drink of tranny fluid (no, that doesn’t change it from a boy van into a girl van) and took off to get the Dolphin. We were going to stop at Micky D’s on the way and it was then that I realised I didn’t have my wallet. Doh!
I drove back home to get it and also pulled on the pants to the rainsuit, which turned out to be a wise move; it was wet out at the Falls. Since our time was limited (Monacita had things to do that night with her friends and family) I drove us out on I-84. I usually take the old Columbia River Highway to Multnomah Falls because it’s a little more scenic than the freeway, but the Interstate is quicker, and there is a good sized parking lot between the arms of the freeway.
Here’s a short slideshow of the drive on the highway:
These are a few random shots I took from the driver’s seat. Washington State is to our left; the Columbia River is the state line between Oregon and Washington.

Here’s the view from the parking lot of the Falls, the second highest in the US:
It was a very nice day, after all. Multnomah Falls was more visited than I thought it would be, and there were people from all over the world there. Good people watching (I’d call it "eye candy" elsewhere). We did walk up to and a little beyond the bridge, but by that time, both Monacita’s camera and mine had misty lenses, and photography was done for that time.
(bring lens wipes next time)

Well, today is the LAST day of 2007, and I have no idea yet what I will do tonight. I won’t have to work this afternoon; the afternoon driver is back in town, so my slate is clean for work – all I need to do is drift up to the store where the boss has an office and get my check, which will be more than twice what it usually is because I worked five days this week instead of the usual two.
Tonight is New Year’s Eve, and waaaa, I have no plans. Usually, I would do my laundry on Sunday nights (last night) but since I don’t have to work today, I decided to let it slide. I may well be doing my laundry at the stoke of Midnight tonight.
Today, I need to go downtown and check my PO box for the last time in 2007, and I need to get my papers check and put it in the bank. I won’t have to drive a school bus until next Monday; the rest of this week is MINE.
Onwards.

Have a Happy New Year, cat. I prefer staying home, anyway. Even when I’m being safe, there’re others who aren’t…..
