Saturday misc
A busy weekend. I delivered the Saturday paper and then the Sunday first edition- both fat with ads for "Back to school" sales. Got less than 2 hours of sleep this morning. I knew our papers would be later than usual, so I didn’t rush out this morning…but I got downtown just before our number came up – almost no waiting at all.
I haven’t done this route’s Sunday paper deliveries for a few months now – I have done the Sunday first several times in the last month, but that was for the south route in my own van, and only about a third of the papers in total. Today I drove the stepvan for the first time since I broke my foot, and it seemed really familiar.
I do like driving around in the day time, and I "love" this time of year- it is much, umm, more "scenic" this time of year out there. Traffic was surprisingly light this morning, so I had time to gawk at the pretty women out there.
Ran my route and came up ten papers short of the list – the other guy loaded first, and while I thought I got all I needed, I guess I didn’t count right. I got back to the store we park at and found his stepvan already there, so I unlocked his doors and found the papers I needed and drove back to the stop where I had left none at, a retirement home that usually sells pretty well for us. ( and only got there a half hour later than "normal" so it may work out for them)
It’s is 94 degrees out today (not sure what that is in C, but it’s nearly 30 C) and this is the 17th 90 plus day we’ve had this summer, a week over average. My apartment has been closed up since I got home, and is actually cool enough so that sitting here and typing in just my shorts is a tad uncomfortable. (not a big fan of clothes though, so it’s ok)
I suppose this should be shocking. Sitting here watching the news (got a good long sleep this afternoon) I noticed that there are two grey hairs on my chest. Oh no!
Lmao though, since a streak of hair on my forehead started going grey when I was 24. (that looks really cool though, and shows up really well in the CDL permit I got on Wednesday)
I suppose I might really freak out if I found a grey pubic hair, but since that phase of life seems to be over, I guess it wouldn’t be such a big deal. I’ve always liked this life- the progress of getting older has long facinated me.
Of course, there may be a "too old" but I haven’t gotten there and don’t know if there will be one.
(if there is any one thing about not being married now to a woman I met in her early 20’s, it’s not watching her age too – I mean, I have, but I haven’t seen much of her for 12 years now. By "much" I mean under her clothes, you know.
one important note: She comes to see me every year, but there has been no "ex-sex", and we haven’t done "it" since 1994 – a year before the divorce)
I have been pretty busy the last few days, so I have not spent much time on OD, other than to make short posts. I have a lot a favs who have been busy posting while I’ve been away, and catching up turns out to be an hours long process that I am not even a fraction of the way through. If anyone is feeling neglected, please accept my appologies.
(and, Cat, how much do you think of yourself that anyone would miss you anyway?)
Real Life has been absorbing most of my attention lately, but in the background, entries are being germinated. It’s always been this way – think about something, then eventually sit down and crank it out. It used to piss off my ex – when we were taking college classes together, she’s put a lot of "work" into an assignment, whereas I would fuck off and do other things and then sit down the night before it was due (or, in one case, the morning it was due – was even late to class that time) and type up my assignment. One draft. And I’d get the same or higher grade than she would.
The point is (other than I’m so cool) is that there are entries germinating that shall fruit into wonderful, profound entries here. You may or may not have noticed, but I have several threads I’ve left hanging to tie up. Cars, driving, Southwestern Daze, family, friends, Japan, etc – Several of which are geminating and will bloom forth.
But, as I said, Real Life is pretty busy now, and I haven’t had a lot of time to just sit here at the computer. Next week looks to be busy too, as I begin (or continue, really) my school bus driving training.
Stay tuned though – good stuff on the horizon.

I must say, I’m excited. Super glad the stepvan gave you no trouble.

RYN – thanks for that – I had figured it out any way – I just knew I had heard the accronym somewhere or other – took a while for the brain cells to get going. I shall look forward to your wonderful and profound entries – I just keep coming up with c**p for my entries these days.

real life definately gets overwhelming at times. The good thing about OD is its like a soap opera. You can disappear for a while and things really havent changed much. I was thinking about doing a paper route but I didnt want to put that much wear and tear on my car. I know a few people who do it and make pretty good money but they also have a few BIG routes. Man, I kinda freaked out when Isaw my first gray hair on my head. Now it doesnt bother me. BUT if I even see one in my nether region, I just may freak out completely. THEN Mike will have to just deal with me shaving. I think its neat that you and your former wife have a relationship like that.
