shortly
I’ve been going to the same places for almost seven years on that newspaper gig.
I’ve been seeing people at the convenience stores work their way up from graveyard dogs to Ast. Managers; one of them today told me to put in an application when I asked, with the strong sense that the paperwork was a formality.
They know I know how to work and at vampire hours.
It looks like three nights of graveyards would completely replace six days of work with the papers.
(I’ll consider that contrast later)
Of course it’s not ideal, but work is work and I’d rather not be completely unemployed.

Meanwhile, the roadtrip tomorrow:
"BIG SNOW DAY tomorrow!" the TV crawler says, "update at 11".
Central and Eastern Oregon are in Winter; the trip to Blue Basin’s off until a better season.
We’ll go out to the Gorge, unless it’s really hazardous, and see what we see.
Coupla gallons of gas – no big deal.
Could be some frozen waterfalls to see!
Stay tuned.

be safe

I’m bored with the weather warnings…we had snow flurries down here (Stayton) for about 30 minutes this afternoon, but then it was just rain again. They always make it seem like it’s going to be SO much worse than it really turns out. Well, except for Dec. 2008. That was a decent string of storms, huh?

RYN: You were one exit past mine. I work in Salem, and take Hwy. 22 in every day. My sister lives over off of Kuebler. There are so many different correctional facilities around Salem; you can’t drive 5 miles without finding another one, it seems like!

pretty much sounds like 3 nights of graveyard would do you better than 6 nights of the paper. but, you don’t have 6 nights of the paper anymore or do you? sometimes, i get confused. take care,
