Snow day?

 It is above freezing so far here, at 186 feet above sea level.

Snow is reportedly falling in the higher parts of the city, and it looks like this "Artic Blast" will intensify over the next few days.

The Low temp for Wednesday is 18 degrees F.  Pretty close to -10 C.

Cold.

So far as I know, the trip today is still on.  Monacita, however, may or may not be able to get out of the driveway of the place she’s staying at in the country; I’ll know later.

The reports look like the snow will start falling everywhere by 4pm – look for a snarled Rush Hour today.

It’s "the other guy" I’m most worried about… I try to be a careful driver (most of the time) and I have cable chains in the car.

Yesterday, I drove down to Salem to take my friend A to see his son in prison.  The kid’s been moved to a work farm – a much more casual prison than the last one he was in.  For example:  This work farm has two "dorms", A and B. They have alternate hours for Visiting, and it turns out yesterday was the other dorm’s visiting time… but they called the kid up for us anyway and we got a good 2 and a half hour visit.  It’s still a prison, so the kid doesn’t doubt where he is, but it’s a "better" place than the last place.

It was a good drive in the cold and wet yesterday.

Colder and wetter today, and transitioning to snow and ice later.  A very good time, I think, to not distribute the newspapers.

By the way, I have been replaced seamlessly.  Turns out the old guy who I argued with and who took 200 dollars a month work from me has a red headed girlfriend… or at least a redheaded woman he put up for the job who taken my spot.

More power to ’em.  Won’t be me out there in the fridgid winter weather, and I don’t mind.
