stuck

Do you ever feel like you’re stuck, trapped, unable to move?

I woke up from a nap yesterday convinced it was Sunday.

I feel like I’ve woken up from a coma – I know what that’s like; I’ve done it before.

The last two months have gone by like smoke through a keyhole, and it’s Sunday again and the rains are back.

It turns out I miss that weekend job I had for seven years.

It gave me structure through the week, waiting until the weekend.

I miss it and I don’t; it wasn’t a great job, but it was a job.

I have an electric stove and oven in my studio apartment.

The oven caught fire Friday night.  I had a pizza in it to reheat, and set the temp for 200, turned it on, and sat down to read some more wikipedia.

The oven made a horrible electrical noise and began smoking.  I turned off the oven and opened the door to look inside, and the heating element was flaming.

It is not supposed to do that.  An electric oven doesn’t cook with flames.

The pizza was not damaged; I microwaved it instead.

I think I’ll get the oven/stove replaced tomorrow.  This building opened in 1971, and the oven looks like it is of the same period – too old for spare parts.  I called Housing on Friday night when the oven burned, but kept getting cut off.  Since it wasn’t flaming any more, and wasn’t going to with the breaker opened, heh, no big deal, I’ll go to the office downstairs in the morning.

Here on the leading edges of the North American continent, it’s one storm after another for the next week, except for Friday, when partial clearing is forecast. Wet, all week.

I love the concern over your pizza. Glad the flames (that weren’t supposed to be there) didn’t damage it! 😀 Light of heart,

Gee that sucks with the oven flaming! I hope that you get it replaced – a new oven maybe? Sounds like you need one. Take care! G~

I had an electric oven in an apartment I lived in during the later college years that would randomly start on fire, too. It was ancient. No idea if it ever got replaced, this happened the spring I moved out.
