The Coast

 

 

 I’ve lived in nine states and have been through 35 – and from what I had seen, I liked the Portland area best.  It has a good balance of weather – not too cold and not too hot (most of the time).  (we’ll ignore the tornado that hit Vacouver across the river two years ago yesterday and the THREE snowfalls here last winter)  Portland is a decent sized city – on the small side, with a walkable downtown, but one of the best things about living here is that most everything I want to see is within a few hours’ drive.  The coast is about 70 miles from here – these pictures are from south of Cannon Beach on the northern coast along US 101:

If you can believe it, the original Coast Highway ran right around this point – passage was subject to the tides.
