Things usually work out

Picked up my check today and took it and the rent statement up to one bank and across the street to another and paid all the rent now.  Got enough for some gas, some food, and the final installment of last year’s county income tax (^%&^%(%&*(*!!).  The rest of the bils are due by the 10th, so no problem – I get paid again next Monday, so that’ll take care of that.

Things usually work out.

My van feels like a new beast, with Quiet brakes.  The cruise to the gorge was good for it- I rarely get above 45 on my routes- mostly 25 or 30 mph, dropping papers here and there.  It cruises so nicely at about 63 mph but goes at least 70 with no straining..  I could totally see road tripping in this van.  Space to sleep.  Room to strech out.  A good view of the road.  The right tunes (in a radio that worked  🙁  ) would be so cool!

Gonna buy some of that nicotine gum and try to give up burning ’em.  If that works out, there are some good tunes for the van.

Like, a specific goal.

Fricking non-smoking stuff is EXPENSIVE, but Walgreens has nicotine gum on sale for almost half price – seen it in the Sunday Paper 😉

It’ll work out if I really want it to.

Someone said I looked like Geddy Lee of Rush in the pic of myself on New Years Day in the Gorge, so I had Rush on my mind and posted one of their songs that really speaks to me in the last entry.  One of my Favs posted the  some of the lyrics of another Rush song – off the same album! – that morning

It was like, great minds think alike, or something

😉

Yea, nonsmoking IS expensive, if you use something to help. And after my last attempt at quitting, I realize that it can be a necessity to use something other than just will power. Alas. Didn’t your idea about substituting a cigar work? hugs, Weesprite

My husband has been trying to quit for some time and he uses the gum. He buys his at Costco – and even though it’s cheaper than buying at other places, it’s still a major chunk of change.. good luck in your quest to quit. I hope my husband is successful as well.

Just like trying to eat healthy is expensive. Ever notice that fat free food is like $2 more than the fatty stuff? It’s insane! Trying to be healthy makes you go broke in the process. Life is hilarious.

I’ve heard that poping a gum drop, or one of those candy things that you suck on, in your mouth helps to fight off those iresistable urges to smoke.

sending supportive vibes and hugs. you can do what ever you set your mind to do.

Smiling…yes, great minds certainly DO think alike! Not sure if you read my last entry or not, but if there was one tiny regret about the whole thing, if it had not been my friend, I would have liked for it to have been you…a bold statement to make, but heartfelt nonetheless. I hope that does not offend you. ~the feline~ 😉

Are there smoking cessation programs where you are that help with the cost? I know here in Montana there are… Linette

hang in there, it might be expensive initially, but in the long run, it’s much cheaper than the alternative, right? canping is so fun! hope you can go on a trip soon. (well, ok, a few months or so)

Cat, it’s definitely worth investing in yourself for some of that nicotine gum. If you cut down to half what you are smoking now would it offset the cost of the gum? I wonder if the tobacco companies own the quit smoking product companies. I guess that’s a little cynical but I can imagine them wanting to keep the cost high so people don’t see a financial benefit to quitting.

My sis is also trying to quit smoking….it is an uphill battle for sure. SHe was able to kick crack (literally) but can’t break away from the cigarettes. I commend you on your efforts. Hey ‘Cat, you have not posted in a few days…c’mon out and play! I posted some pics a few entries back and have been waiting for you to take a peek, being such a wonderful photographer and all….
