Wednesday the 16th
Very cold here today – there is snow in the gorge, on the east end. My Sporting Goods manufacturer run, HQ to the hotel downtown, got moved up an hour, back into Rush Hour time. It’s kind of ok though, because I was worried about getting to my HS take-home run after that on time.
Which should be "interesting". It ran until nearly 12 on Monday night – had to drive way out into Gresham for one girl, and damn, I am getting GOOD at 3 point backing turn-arounds in that number 12 bus – it’s really good to drive the same bus a lot – you get familiar with it. Last night’s shuttle to and from HQ, the hotel, and a dinner party venue was only 29 miles of driving, but almost all of it was in downtown Portland. Felt good to have done it, but it was stressful DOING it – skinny streets and bicycle riders (damn, they are arrogantly stupid).
A real Stay-at-home kind of day today, but I have to go out. Not now, TG, but later, when I’m on the job.
Tomorrow, I’m not sure if I have any work yet or not, but the Sporting Goods Manufacturer’s conference ends tonight and there’s word of 3 mini-buses needed to get them back to the airport. I dunno if I’m one of them or not.
In other news, the classes at PSU, Portland State, walked out to join the Occupy Portland Movement this afternoon, and have a route planned that will/may conflict with our big buses going from HQ to the hotel downtown. PSU is where I got my degree in 2000. Hope they don’t get in the way, but what a sight for the visitors! Their hotel is often targeted for protests. Good thing they aren’t bankers.
It looks like it will be an interesting day – I think I’ll catch a nap before I have to go to work this evening.
