Yeah. Freaky Friday.

T’was a nice day – cloudy enough so that the new sunglasses were a bit much, at times, but warm and comfortable, and, like, all around nice.
I finished the previous entry and went back to the barn. I had just minutes to clock in, so no long wait in the driver’s room. I clocked in and grabbed my route book and the keys and went up to my bus. I sat down and stuck the keys at the dashboard… and they didn’t fit.
Huh?
When I finished this morning, I parked my bus next to 68 and waved to that driver as she walked down to the driver’s room to clock out. I was standing there talking to the driver of bus 86, telling her of my morning, when my radio rang. It was 68’s driver, who asked me to get the keys she’d forgotten on her bus.
No problem, I says, and walked down to the driver’s room with 68’s and 69’s keys. They hang right next to each other on the key rack. You can see how I mighta switched the keys, right?
So, umm, from the barn, I went to my Mid-day kindergarten, and the district’s charter school (whatever that is) and picked up three kids – a boy and two girls. They all immeadiately ran to the back of the bus and pretty much ignored me when I told them to get up front, where I’ve been told to keep them.
One of their teachers, the good looking Asian lady, got aboard and got them back up front, and that lasted for maybe six blocks. They ended up in the back of the bus.
On the one hand, if they sit down correctly and are relatively quiet, ‘s ok with me where they sit, ya know? On the other, of course, is I’m not exactly following directions.
It’s like, a command decision.

Anyway, I got these two girls on. One of ’em, seven years old and kinda cute was in a show off mood today – she was showing off her underwear. I’m driving my bus in traffic – gotta pay attention to that. This kid pulled her skirt up, she yanked it down, and just giggled as I told her repeatedly not to do that, to sit down and behave, whatever, but when she turned around in front of the boy and, like, mooned him, oh boy.
In, like, no uncertain terms, I told her to sit down and quit showing off her underwear. Her mom was waiting for her at the usual stop, and I had a few words with her, in an oblique kinda way – she might want to speak to her daughter about her behavior.
Pre-tty freaky stuff, man.

One of the job requirements was that I pay for an FBI background investigation, and pass. I did, of course, no problem, but a lot of that is oriented in catching possible risks to children by adult sexual predaters. I’m not one. Seven’s a LOT too young for me.

Three cars ran my flashing red student lights today. I got license numbers and partial ID’s on some of them, and wrote them up on the forms the ast. Director provides and gives to the Sheriff. The two freshmen who always sit behind me were in usual form – I have sometimes been answering questions and missed a stop, (I talk like I write, you see) but have been careful since and didn’t today.
Rolled over some curbs because people took up more than their share of the left turn lane that I need to use to make right turns. This one kid always says that’s another hundred bucks I owe him, for hitting each curb, and I’m all like, yeah, right. Send ya a check, eh?
And kept driving and dropping ’em off on my way to the barn. Pulled in, parked my bus, swept it out, wrote out the lights runners forms, and clocked out.
Came home and caught some sun on the balcony, a cup of Sumatra coffee and the paper I grabbed at the charter school at hand, and enjoyed the weather on my wonderful balcony.
I love this time of year here.
Came in, watched the news, yelled at the TV, and came here.
So far, so good.

It’s been a freaky Friday fer sure. I’ve got the last disc of season two of "LOST", nowhere to be, and I don’t have to get up as early on Saturdays as I do the rest of the week, so it’s all good.
I mean, I’m home. What freaky thing could happen to me at home?
(oh, you mean, like the earthquake in 95 you lived through in Japan? The one that wrecked the apartment and the city? Like that?)
shaddup, you

i’ve definitely had days like that. where the day on a whole is fine, but little details, man, small things that just make you shake your head and wonder if it’s a full moon or what.

Here’s hoping it’s been an uneventful weekend, Cat! 🙂

I enjoyed this entry. Alittle more in depth about your job and whats required of you. When I’m taking Cat home from school, usually, buses are coming in for the older kids. I hate those bus drivers. The driveway is extremely tight, and they’ll turn in without looking or seeming to care that they are going to hit your car if you are not careful. It’s frustrating. I’ve got two kids in the car, and sometimes you have to give a little trust to the other people that they aren’t going to battle ram your car when your stopped at the end of a driveway. Oh well. It sounds as though you’re feeling a little better. Take care.

as always, I thoroughly enjoy your “writes”! *still chucklin* :~)
