A Short List with Smileys
- My eyesight is MUCH better this morning. So, it seems that my right eye , weak though it may be, adds something to the all-over effect! I was telling Fred that from what I remember, my eyesight now is very close to the level it was when I first had the cataracts removed.

- I did my Italian homework. It took about 45 minutes.

- Tomorrow, besides doing my Italian homework for Thursday, I must also washh some clothes. Fred hasn’t actually said he only has one pair of underpants left but I bet he is pretty close to that!

- It snowed yesterday. Today the high temperature will be in the middle sixties!

- I am taking a break from Star Trek and watching Farscape DVDs in the evenings.

- Our book club choice for this month is a children’s book called Counting on Grace by Elizabeth Winthrop . It is set in Vermont and is about child labor in the spinning mills. Although there were child labor laws at this time {late 1800 and early 1900s} they were routinely ignored. When the mills were inspected, the children were hidden. It was quite clear that many of the inspectors knew and didn’t care. This book also includes as a character the real-life photographer, Lewis Hine, who took many pictures of these children.

Until later…

I have read that book! I need to search out a book club in my area. I have never done that before because of time issues, but I think I’d really enjoy it now. I’m so glad your eyesight has improved! (((Hugs)))

You have to be kidding me…..60’s!! I would die for those temps here. It snowed 3″ yesterday and now today the sun is shining but they canceled school. Crazy! By Friday it’s supposed to be 55 and I am looking forward to that. I work until 12:30 and then I am off the weekend. What a treat!

That is so sad. We saw what the mills were like in Lowell and how the girls slept and that most of those girls put their brothers through school and never saw a dime. They worked so hard. Must be a great book. Blessings.

Glad your eye is better..you inspire me to search out a book club.. that sounds so interesting…I hope you will soon be getting into spring….are the crocus peeping through the snow yet? My back yard in NY was full of crocus. I planted a bunch by throwing them on the grass and digging them in where they landed my first year in the house (1978). They spread like mad… one of the things I miss so…

The book sounds interesting. My mother and father were both working full time at sixteen years old. This is why my father retired at sixty. He felt like he’d work long enough.

I know about that weather thing — we’ve been very warm today, and then tonight we had thunderstorms and tornado warnings. Very strange!

ryn: I haven’t read him. I will give him a try. Thank you so much. I hope it’s a nice day up there. It’s cold and rainy here. A good day for ducks or naps. Thank you.

ryn: Yes…she is moving because of Chris. Of her own accord? I don’t know…perhaps CPS is forcing her to do it.
