Crossing That Bridgerton
I have a friend who suggested that I hop on Netflix and start watching the series, Bridgerton.
Never mind the fact that I told her many, many times that I don’t watch television. Never mind the fact that I told her that I have very little interest in the setting and environment of the show. Never mind the fact that I hadn’t watched anything on Netflix in years and that I had since forgotten my password.
Still, she persisted.
She had attempted to encourage me even further to tune in by sending me a clip of the show that she managed to find on Facebook. It was in that clip that I was able to catch a glimpse of what the show was all about, as far as some of the characters, though more importantly, how the characters in this series spoke. It was their manner of speech that made her think that I might like the show, because she said that in some weird way, I speak similarly, though without the accents that they have.
I guess that at times, I do tend to speak in a prim and proper way when compared to most people. I don’t do it intentionally. That’s just how I speak and I don’t feel compelled to change it.
I guess there are three seasons of Bridgerton, of which I have completed just the first season. I’m about halfway through Season 2, which she says is nowhere near as entertaining as the first and apparently, the third season, which she is watching again.
She would also admit to me that she also liked watching the show, not only because of the storylines, but because of what she says are the softcore porn-like scenes that are laced into the first and third seasons. I had to tell her that I likely won’t be drawn in by softcore porn, being that I could cut the crap with Netflix and watch actual porn online.
She was hard-pressed to disagree with me there.
But as of this writing, I’m watching Bridgerton and enjoying the experience. I even told her that. She was convinced that she knew what she was talking about and that she was spot-on when she thought I’d like the show.
I told her that I struggled through the first two episodes of Season 1, being that I needed to get used to how everyone spoke, including the accents. I suppose it paid off, being that I’m almost done with the second season of the show.
Watching Bridgerton doesn’t change the reality that I still don’t watch television. I won’t tell her that outright, but I’m wondering if she’s going to try and make another suggestion as to what I ought to watch while we wait for what she sees as an inevitable Season 4.
Yes, she is convinced that there will be a Season 4. I think that she is also convinced that whatever suggestion she makes as far as what I should watch next, I will follow through with and watch.
Maybe? Maybe not? Indeed, we shall see.
I have watched the 1st and 2nd seasons but haven’t reached the 3rd. I have a tendency to start watching a show then get preoccupied with other things and forget about it. There are very few shows/series I’ll watch all the way through. When it comes to movies, I see ones I’m interested in but never end up watching them. There is one show I do especially like and have watched all the seasons so far. The final season comes out next month.
From what I’ve watched of Bridgerton so far, the characters I enjoy the most are Eloise Bridgerton for her wit and fiercely independent personality, and Kate Sharma for basically the same reasons, but also her love and loyalty to her sister. She is also a stunningly beautiful character in my opinion.
