Doing all right at the moment
A quick update on a few things that have been going on in my life:
1) Health matters:
At the moment, my head seems all right. A lot of the pain I was experiencing early last month doesn’t seem to be happening right now. I left the softball team and quit my job, so that lowering of physical exertion and stress might have been what did the trick. Now if I could only get my hands on a Neorologist. I saw the eye specialist yesterday to talk to him about my eye, which is almost fully clear of Iritis. I’ve been taking drops for it for three months now, but will keep taking them to make sure it goes for a while and doesn’t flare back up too soon like it did last time. I really like this specialist, and he’ll be the guy I see again the next time I have this problem again.
The one thing that is still bugging my is my blood pressure. I haven’t measured it in a while (will likely try today), but I can tell my heart rate is still through the roof. I can feel my heart pounding a mile a minute, so when I go back to my family doctor next week, I’m expecting to see high numbers despite taking medication to combat it. Right now I’ve been experience sore joints and my back has been spasming on me. More stuff I’ll have to take up with him the next time I go in. I’m just the walking wounded here, but I’ll get over it.
3) Job Hunt Update:
I’ve tried hard to find a suitable replacement for the job I left but repsonse hasn’t been as positive as I hoped it would be. Good news is a job ten times better than the ones I’ve been trying to apply for just dropped out of the sky and landed onto Chris’ lap. It’s a great job with a good company, and even though he loves his nephews, I can tell he wants to get back to work… so it looks like Chris and I are going to do a role reversal. It’s a great opportunity for Chris with a great company, so I don’t want to be the reason he can’t take it. I happily took the homemaker job last year, and I can do it again this year… but it’s not like fate has given me much of a choice.
With my current health, some people have been telling me that staying home with the boys might be the best thing to do for now until I can get better. This will be fun cause I want to spend more time with my boys, take them to the park, or just hang out and crank the AC on warm days. I think the kids are also suffering from Uncle Chris over exposure as well, so I think this might be a good thing for everyone around. When Ethan starts pre-school in September, then it might be easier for me to go back to work, as we would be able to send one kid to daycare. But we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it…
2) Meeting with the Writer, Part II:
Almost two weeks ago I met with a writer who agreed to look at my work. I provided samples of short fiction, poems as well as a full chapter of ‘The Manifest’ for him to read. He wanted some time to read them all over and then get back to me when he got back from his vacation. I’m going to meet with again this Saturday. I’m dying to see what he thinks of all the samples. I gave him the second chapter to the Manifest, which I think is a good chapter to introduce someone to this kind of novel. I’m curious to see how he reacts to the theme/topic of the novel, cause I never told him and decided to let him discover it for himself.
If he reacts with just half the positive response I’ve gotten from people who have seen smaller samples already, I’m hoping he’ll help me push to get this book published. Now that I am spending more time at home, there are no more excuses. I’m 270 pages into the book and on Chapter 46. I could probably finish this up in the next ten chapters, and have it done by the end of the month as long as I can stay away from distractions. I really think this book has the potential to be a massive bestseller, and I hope this writer sees that potential as well. All this book has to do is hit a shelf, the topic and the contraversy it will create will practically sell the book for me.
I’ll post another update about my second meeting probably either on Saturday or Sunday. Wish me luck!
3) Blogathon Update:
A big thanks to those who have donated so far. I’m off to a blazing start with over $80 pledges so far! For only the first week, that’s not bad at all. Now that a lot of bugs are taken care off, I’m going to make a bigger push to get more pledges. I hope to at least surpass the number I made last year, and with a little luck pass the bigger number that I made in 2005. Things are looking good, and Leah has the day off and chances are Chris will too, so I’ll have plenty of backup during the event so I’m confident I’ll have no problems writing for this 24 hours. So feel safe to pledge cause it’s for a really great cause!
So that’s the updates from Steel City. I hope everyone else has a good hump day and I’ll likely be back later today to post another entry or leave a tone of notes. Until then, take care…
Peter

Well…don’t forget all of us when you’re a big, famous author okay? I cannot believe how much your boys are growing up.

I got your e-mail today. I know I’m a horrible procrastinator, but I’m bound and determined to donate this year. Glad to hear that you’re not having the pain in your head. And I’m crossing my fingers that the writer loves your work. 🙂

RYN: Fair enough but they wouldn’t win because the Copa America and U20 WC are competitions and the All-Star game is irrelevant. (not to be rude) I wasn’t aware of either incident. But since I have contempt for the all-star game concept, I can’t say either incident would’ve made an impression on me.

RYN: I don’t consider that enough to make it meaningful.
