Westboro to picket funerals of shot children…

The following tweet made me want to hurl:

Word going around is the same Westboro Baptists also plan to “picket” the funerals of all of yesterday’s victims, even the children. I don’t know about you, but I hope someone tries to stop these people from trying to picket the funeral of a kindergarten kid that was shot yesterday. That’s not right.

And if you thought that was bad, this posting on facebook goes beyond what anyone would call tact or good taste. I don’t know what’s more despicable, that he even said it at all or that he got 45 likes:

Seriously? Being murdered by a lone gunman was the best Xmas gift these kids could have got? Are you fucking kidding me???

And I thought Huckabee’s comments were outrageious! This guy’s comment about the kids getting the best Christmas gift ever infuriated me. Want a reason to why I’m an atheist? Look no further! No kid wants to have a bullet in the head for Christmas you sick piece of shit!

When it comes to saying stupid things, religious folks in the US are apparently have more than enough to go around.

I can’t speak for people who are religious (because I’m not) but I am curious to what other Christians feel about comments like these being made a day after 20 kids were murdered by a lone gunman. I would feel ashamed if someone I was associated with made comments like this about what happened yesterday.

Leave to some God fearing nutball to say something this stupid about the death of a child. Open mouth… insert foot.

And now you know why the number of non-believers is on a sharp and steady rise.

Please understand: among believers, these people are the far extreme cases and are not usual and the things they say are not acceptable. Their comments are inappropriate toward the families and children themselves. I believe in a God. I believe in: “God is love.” This was by NO means an act of love or an act of God that took these childrens’ lives. Such comments are indeed disturbing and wrong.

That’s disgusting.

I do hope someone stops them. I know a person who said something like the second post above when my mom died. At the end of his sermon he said, “I just can’t wait to get to heaven…” Since I am a polite person, I didn’t say, “Do you want me to help get you there?”

I certainly hope that guy never tries to give me a Christmas present. I’ve seen way way too many posts on Facebook about god and jesus etc etc wanting little angels in heaven. And it being God’s will. I’m not religious either and I guess it’s just a way of trying to find some sort of meaning, but I think those kids and their families would probably prefer being left down here with the riff-raff to being brutally murdered. And the ones who god and jesus apparently didn’t want get to be traumatized for life. Nice work, God! Thanks for the note- I’d read your post from yesterday on Readers Choice and was too wiped out to note my appreciation of the links.

Whilst I would personally LOVE Westboro to picket my funeral, I totally agree with you on every sentiment expressed here. If Facebook had ‘like’ or ‘share’ buttons I would be clicking them profusely.

People like that should never picket at funerals, period!

I’d like to give that guy the BEST Christmas present EVER and help him meet his maker!!!
