6 and a half weeks.
Doctor’s appointment this morning! Well, I guess I should call it a midwife appointment, but whatever, same thing. We were a few minutes late because Jake was coming with and I waited and waited for him to come upstairs for his break and eventually (ok, it was about 11:02 and I wanted to leave at 11…) I went down and surprised him halfway through his lunch-salad. Meg was also on her break so we pregnancy-chatted a bit (she’s about 13 weeks pregnant, I barely remember that far back. 20 weeks ago seems like forever) until Jake stopped eating and it was time to leave. We did get a park on the bottom level of the parking structure which was shockingly awesome and made for a quick arrival, we were about 3 minutes late when we got there so not bad (but I would prefer to be at least 5 minutes early…)
All is good in the world of Baby A. I’m still measuring right on track, her heartbeat is still a heartbeat (we heard some hiccups at the same time, so cute!) and she’s head-down so that’s awesome.
My doctors have moved to a place that is actually closer to where we live, but the midwifes still have their appointments in a little office next to the hospital that used to be where the ultrasounds were done. The receptionist I think was very new. At the end of the appointment I stood at her desk for aaages while she slowly, 2-finger typed something into the computer and then eventually asked me when my next appointment needed to be (2 weeks, but after that, every week!) …ugh. It’s a tiny little place, there was one other patient at the time and no one waiting because it was the start of lunch, so couldn’t she have done the appointment-making thing with me real quick so I could leave and then take forever filling in info? Seemed odd to me.
The only good part was it gave me time to remember that I needed the midwife to sign something for me. I had this thing from my insurance and once I got 3 signatures from 3 appointments in my 3rd trimester, I could mail it in and get a $25 Walmart gift card. There’s another one to do once the baby is born. So I got the 3rd signature today, which I was glad for (should’ve gotten it 2 weeks ago, but I lost the paper. Found it in the pocket of my cardigan a few days later). As of the new year, my insurance company doesn’t really exist and I go back to being on straight medicaid (I think?), it’s rather confusing. So I was hoping I could mail the thing off quickly today and get the giftcard before they go away and that deal might not be available anymore. So as soon as we were home, I threw the thing in the postage paid envelope and went to the post office. Dropped it off, went to check the PO box. There was a thing from my insurance in there, which turned out to be a $50 Walmart gift card! I guess the promo won’t be running so they gave me what they would have if they were staying around? I don’t know. Free money, that’s all I think. I love gift cards.
I had so many things I wanted to get done this afternoon, but I’m utterly exhausted and sore. Last night’s restaurant chair, combined with today’s super-hard exam table, combined with my bony butt = sitting not fun. I actually got stuck in the computer chair yesterday evening, couldn’t work out a way to get up. At least normally when I need Jake’s help in standing it is from our super-squishy-sinky couch, or the floor, not a normal seated position. I’m so glad I have a Jake, he’s so awesome and useful. He’s always willing to help me up or get me something so I don’t have to get up, or pick things up from the floor for me… it makes me feel lazy that I have to get him to help me out so much, but at the same time it’s rather difficult to do things so it’s great to have someone who can help me out.
I can’t believe it’s only 6 weeks! 🙂 Your insurance company won’t exist? Is it going bust or something? :-/

I remember those weekly visits. I wanted to just rent space on the office couch and sleep there, since it felt like I never left!

You guys should do a registry on amazon.com. I would buy a little something for the sezsquidlet.

Eeeeeee so close! So exciting. I’m like you – I always want to be early. I start stressing if I’m on time, but usually I end up about half an hour early haha

How exciting – 6 weeks to go! Are you sporting a waddle yet? 😉 Free giftcards = awesome! Reckon they’ll give you another one for turning in the signatures?

You must be very excited to have only six weeks to go. And yay, free money!

It rules so hard that your insurance is basically giving you a present for going on a signature-getting treasure hunt. Any plans for using the gift card, like certain things you’re dying to get for the babycake?
