It’s been a rough couple of weeks for some friends of mine.  Different friends.  Similar situations.  It’s heartbreaking really.

1.  A friend of ours 18-year old son had a heart attack prior to a karate class at U$C a couple weeks ago.  Apparently, he had a heart condition from when he was an infant.  Thanks to the quick response of the security team at U$C, it looks like he is going to make it.  He’ll have a long recovery but he is in good hands at UCLA Medical Center.  Our church family pulled together to support those involved.  Good news on that front.

2.  Another friend’s 17-year old son was killed in a car accident on Friday.  Apparently, the kids were drag racing with another car.  At least 2 of the kids were killed when they hit a pole head on.  The driver of our friend’s car is in critical condition at last report.  I’m not sure of all the details but…What were they thinking?  For the second time in the past week, our email prayer network was alive.  This time, the outcome was not as good.  It saddens me to hear of “good” kids doing stupid things.  Tonight, I’ll be meeting with some the church youth for our regular Tuesday gathering.  It’s not going to be our usual good times I’m thinking.

So, if you’re the praying kind, say a quick prayer for the families of Grayson and Chris.
