5 years later
Well, it’s been 5 years since I was last here. I’ve seen a couple of old friends show up here. Not like the old days on OD. I was in my early 30s when I started this diary 25 years ago…this month to exact.
Major life updates: 1. Trace and I have been married for nearly 23 years. 2. My son is now a junior in college and is starting to panic about life. He moved in with his girlfriend late last year and hopes to move on to graduate school next year. 3. My father-in-law passed away last May at the age of 90. Despite the dementia, he and I had a great time together. I miss him every day 4. We finally sold our 46-foot sailboat last fall. We have a lot of fun memories of it and sailing. It was getting to be too expensive to maintain. 5. Work is work. In 5 years I hope to be retired. I feel old with all the 20s and 30s-somethings around the office.
I really miss the simplicity of OD. Social media today, with Instagram and Facebook and all the others, seems kinda anti-social and focuses on followers and less on engagement. OD was always a social space with plenty of engagement.
