Bang! Bang!

  1. Why do I call it the Bang Bang house? Because right now we’re in “eff around and find out” mode with the former tenants. When they departed on the night of the 14th they said to the PM “We’re going to have to go stay in a motel” my response to her was “well, I hope they have a nice time” which is sarcasm if there’s any doubt. The condition they left my beautiful house is repugnant. So like Cactus Jack used to say “Bang! Bang!” https://media.giphy.com/media/23hPMWqnvi88Ebsi7m/giphy.gif
  2. I will forever associate the stink of pot with lazy filthy tenants. As Mick Foley says “Have a Nice Day” More sarcasm. The stench follows me home.😝
  3. Had to go buy a toilet seat this morning or it’s “hold yer water” for a whole day of work. As I’m pulling into the parking lot for Wally World, a place I never want to go, there’s the Muskrats’ Uhaul sitting at the McD drive-through window. Well, surprise. If the $19.95/day in town rate is true $600/mo is cheaper than a motel (if there are no restrictions and somebody lets you couch surf) and here I am cleaning up more filth today so who cares what they do?
  4. Today I had to sweep walls. I won’t even bother to clean the stove except enough to carry it to another dump run. I scrubbed the fridge just enough to use it for sealed water bottles. The ice maker won’t quit making ice (Hubbin will kill it for me) and there seems to be a bit of a leak into the bottom of the fridge which may also be something to do with the ice maker. I put the door bins in the dishwasher which has a sanitize feature and hooray that works! Of course, the fridge goes too. Once smoke gets into the guts of a fridge you get food and ice that tastes like whatever they smoked. Not my thing. I have a dorm fridge and a new microwave but first, we have to get the stink out of our spaces. Gross gross gross…
  5. 2 boxes of planking arrived today. Only one tiny corner of one plank was damaged in transit. We might have just enough to finish Pup’s living room tomorrow.
  6. Wu worked so hard today. The old family room is the place we’ll gut and sanitize for our living space while we rehab everything upstairs. He was a bit wistful about the pink carpet. It wasn’t fancy but it was soft and clean when we installed it. His first memories of that house are playing on that carpet. He said he wanted to get some pictures before we rip it out of there. We moved to the lake the week of his 4th birthday.
  7. What does it cost for us to maintain 2 houses for the next 4-6 months? About $500/month for the extra house. The repair bill will be thousands but it needed to be done anyway. Could have passed on the stress and the mess. Hubbin is very wound up about this right now. It’s hot and he’s got University stuff to do. As if those two things didn’t mess with the Autism enough his sister hurt her ankle and may or may not come out for the visit he was looking forward to. Even if she does fly out there may be some retooling of travel plans. Moving pieces are not autism-friendly.
  8. I am so very allergic to cats and dogs. Even the pill and allergy shots can’t handle what Wu was dragging out of the basement. Carpets MUST go! We have wood floors at the lake and Gibson prefers his own house outside. We only play footsie on the deck. Pup’s cupboard painting will be a relief tomorrow. No critters there and since he did janitorial for 10 years he’s pretty fastidious.

Sooo much going on!!  Don’t forget to take time just for you.  You really need it during such stressful times!

@novembercirese excellent advice. We’ve declared Sunday an absolute day of rest and Fridays are for only the house we actually live in.

Whew, that’s a lot. Good luck!
