May I lead the way into temptation

When I began writing here back in 1998-1999 my writing was terrible. While those entries are long gone, since I deleted them, I still remember how terrible they were. As time moved on I did start writing better and as I grew older. I began writing here at the age of nineteen, so that’s to be expected. However, what has really helped improve my writing over these past few years is reading. I’ve become an avid reader and a major book collector. I can’t stop buying books and that to be read pile just grows. I’ve always heard reading improves many things and writing is one of them. The more you read the better writer you will become. I tell people that all the time. With reading you’re reading many different forms of writing in terms of how people write.  It helps to see how things work and how each writer makes their stories.

It’s always been a dream of mine to write a novel, but when it comes to ideas I am my own worst critic. I feel like my ideas aren’t good enough. I’ve also got so many ideas floating around so I’m often visiting them over and over.  The thing is writing rather it be a short story or simply a diary entry—which you’re reading now—has always been a part of me. I remember as a teen writing stories by the pages and by hand. I loved doing that. I still do, though now I type rather than write. There’s been times when I’ve had the worst writer’s block. That’s sometimes lead me to bouts of depression. It’s made me feel as if I’m suffocating. I still haven’t actually come back in full writing mode from 2017. I’m still working on getting that back. With the love of my life home more there are times when I can’t concentrate. Let’s not forget the scenarios of an idea going into my head at two am or when I’m driving. That has happened countless times. However, given I have been able to remember the most of what I want to write, it’s just getting the time frame and that motivation to do so. I  always hear though write everyday and not wait until you have the time or when an idea strikes. There are days when I do write something and other days when I don’t. Writing needs to be something I do everyday and that’s sort of what I’m hoping to do here.

There are just days though when the words aren’t going to flow because I’ve got nothing to say, and I’m not too keen on the whole writing about the mundane.  It just doesn’t seem interesting to me, but I do record some of the mundane when the time calls for it. Next entry might just be of that. I’ll share a few pictures of a concert I went to. The band I’ve seen three times now and they’re just a band I completely adore.
