Just Like the Rest

I should’ve known that you’d slip away, just like the rest.
I should’ve known you would be another test
Just to see how far my heart has come,
and how I’m living now the lovings done.
I should have known.
I should’ve known that this love of ours wouldn’t last long.
I should’ve known you were nothing more than a song
That I’ll sing from the top of my
lungs about living when the lovings done.
I should have known.
I’ll be around if you ever find me on your mind,
but I’ll still remember when I told you I
loved you you said you felt nothing at all.
I should’ve known that this love of ours wouldn’t last long.
I should’ve known when the morning came you would be gone.
Now, you’ve seen how far my heart has come.
How I’m living now the lovings done.
I should have known.
Sometimes music can say everything without saying anything.
If you were to ask me if I listen to you – please know your silence speaks volumes.  When you played this after we had fought, it was everything I needed to “know” and hear.
For years I have asked you if you were happy, if this was the life you wanted. You always reassured me it was. You always reassured me that I was the only one you wanted and needed. No matter how hard it got – I believed it. Now, so many years into “our story” – its time to let you be free.
While you indirectly shared this with me and maybe I read too much into the lyrics; but as the song says
I’ll be around if you ever find me on your mind”
