Ave Praetor!

For those who don’t know what a Praetor is, I’ll tell you:

Praetor, Roman: Is the name for any two high ranking Roman judicial officials, ranking below an ancient Roman consul in the ancient Roman Republic. A Praetor would have the authority to argue and even judge most ancient Roman civil court cases that were brought on by most Roman citizens having civil or criminal complaints in a typical Roman city. A Praetor could also be a military governor of a newly conquered territory that was annexed by Rome if a Roman governor is not present. By the time of the Roman Empire, there were from 2 to 12 or 16 known Praetors that were also automatically Roman Senators in the ancient Roman Senate.

-Praetor, Romulan: Is the name for the main leader of the Romulan Star Empire in the Star Trek universe but third in line from the Romulan Emperor and the Emperor’s Legate. The Romulan Praetor usually oversees the Romulan Imperial Senate and the Continuing Committee as well as the Senate Proconsul and the Vice Proconsul while the Romulan Imperial Senate is in session on the planet Romulus. Although, the Romulan fleet is more likely the main source of the Romulan Praetor’s power over the Empire, the Romulan leader also holds a ceremonial mace known as the Debrune Teral’n which is the greatest symbol of Romulus, which is about the size of a polearm that, when activated, four sharp blades spring out, thus giving it the appearance of a Romulan trident like weapon.
