Saucy Scale: 10

Thank you, Jesus.  Thank you, everyone.

My darling brother & our friend Kir saved the day this morning.  Just as I was loading the boys in the car, he called and said they were on their way to watch the boys for me.  It was too late for them to meet me at my house, so they met me at the doctor’s office.  They kept the boys entertained out in the lobby of the Medical Center.  It was a HUGE weight off my shoulders knowing that my boys were in good hands…and not in the exam room with me.  (Besides, Gus & Mattson think Uncle Boogie is the cat’s pajamas!)

I was seen by a Nurse Practitioner named Michelle.  (It’s official, I heart Michelle.)  She did an internal lookey-loo at my goodies and saw no evidence of the ick I reported finding yesterday.  So, that’s good news.

Twins can be sneaky when it comes to getting fetal heart tones.  One of those babies (I suspect that Baby B is a potential troublemaker) does not like to be heard or seen without prior notification & consent.

So, the kindly Michelle responded, "I’m putting myself in your shoes.  I wouldn’t be comfortable leaving here without some confirmation that both babies are ok.  Let’s go across the hall and get a quick ultrasound."  Which is exactly what I needed…confirmation that both babies are present & accounted for.

She was able to show me both babies & I was satisfied.  No souvenier pictures today, but that’s ok.  I know what I saw.

Baby A repeatedly opened & closed his/her mouth.  his/her hand was right up by his/her face.  I joked that I was getting another thumb sucker.  Man oh man, but Baby A is scrunched up into a tight space.  He/she might need lots of massage to loosen up the back muscles.

Baby B was less animated.  He/she kept diving and dodging the photo-op.  I got a nice butt shot.  This is definitely TBU’s kid.

In about 3 weeks I’ve got a week chock-full of baby diagnostics and prenatally goodness.  My visit with the Perinatology Clinic at the hospital for a Level 2 ultrasound.  My next OB check-up.  A 1 hour glucose test…just to be sure these babies aren’t too sweet for my system.

For now, I’m back to chasing my toddler & preschooler around the house.  My darling Baby Boy still has his cold & congestion.  He might even have a little fever going, poor thing.  That with the fact that his poor little mouth is once again springing some teeth/molars is making for one pathetic little drooly dude.

In a few minutes the troops and I are heading upstairs for our nappy.  Rainy days like this were made for napping.

5 Things That Make Me Happy:

  1. Michelle
  2. the marvels of modern medicine
  3. Baby A & Baby B…both doing great
  4. Gusser is an AMAZING big brother!
  5. Mattson…he’s got his mama’s naughty gene

Phew! Relieved that A and B are doing well in there, well enough for one of them to moon you. All health professionals should be as sympathetic as Michelle.

YAY!! I’ve been so worried since I read your other entry. AND THE BEST PART…I assume in three weeks you will also find out the sexes? OH PLEASE!!!!! I know I am being rude by “shouting” but I am on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what you are having. There is nothing better than health care professionals that understand what is needed.

I’m sorry that I didn’t read this morning’s entry, but I’m so glad you went in for an ultrasound and that you’ve gotten some peace of mind!! This twin pregnancy thing isn’t for the weak of heart, I tell ya! Hang in there!

I am with [thirtysomething]. Please, oh please, let us know what you are having if you’re going to find out. Keep the names a surprise or something if you need to, lol. That said, if you got a good butt shot, then you might have been able to see if something was budding or not on Baby B… fill me in, lol.

So we don’t know if they are boys or girls or both?!?!?! I want to know!!!! 😉 Tell me! I won’t tell… everyone. LOL!

ryn: no, no, the whole cloris leachman/toni braxton thing – same! just fascinating – can’t look away.

Not exactly. You can go to whatever temple you want to- if you want to make the trip. But you have to pay dues..I mean, you can go if you’re from out of town or something, without being a member, but if you want to go to the High Holiday services you need to have tickets, because it’s SO packed every year, even with two services. And if you want to be married in that certain temple or have your child bar matizvah’d there- you need to be a member. Dues are 1800.00 a year for a family- all the money goes to help pay the salary of the Rabbi, as well as keep the sanctuary renovated and new, pay for Torah’s to be cleaned, pay for the prayer books, the religious school as well as all the clubs and other things that go on in the temple. Sorry that was quite long!! Do Churches not have dues? How do they raise money for all that stuff?

Hurray! I feel so much better after ultrasounds. That lasts about a week, and then I can’t wait for the next one! So glad your mind is at ease. Was she able to tell you whether they’re fraternal or identical? I’m so curious! My Baby B is always tough to get pics of. Doesn’t help that Baby A steals the limelight, squirming around in front of B every time we get a good shot! 😛
