1760 Fresh Meat of all kinds

Saucy Scale: 7

Oh goodness.  What a day.

After my 3 day Carb Fest & fasting since midnight last night…this morning was the S-U-C-K!

A Glucose cocktail and a chaser of 4 vein pokes for blood.

The first 45 minutes were ok, but things got "sketchy" after that.  The kindly nurses found me an empty exam room where I could hide in the dark for the remaining 2 hours.  I got to lie down on those oh-so-very comfy exam tables and try to nap while also trying to not barf glucola (’cause if you barf, you negate the test & have to reschedule a new 3 hour glucose test).

What a fabulous morning.  It almost felt like a day spa visit.  I kept waiting for my facial to start, but it never did.

TBU & the boys picked me up (as I was in no condition to drive) and took me for lunch.

I just have the feeling that I failed that test.  (Multiple pregnancies increase your risk of developing Gestational Diabetes (GD) exponentially.  It’s not the end of the world.  I got over the shock and horror of GD when I was pregnant with Gus.  I can deal with the required diet & do what I have to do for these babies.  It’s a pain, to be sure, but it’s important to follow the diet or I might find myself needing insulin.  Which would be really bad.  I’m not interested.

So anyhoo…

You know I love me some Duggar Family, right?  Totally addicted.  I’ve been planning to fill my freezer with casseroles and meals.  My biggest set back to getting started has been queasy tummy and my inability to handle the cooking smells.

Numerous times I’ve wondered why some food company hasn’t cornered the market in the packaged pre-cooked ground beef market.  But that’s another issue.

Last week I was asking some church ladies about cookbooks/recipes for freezer meals.  I mentioned my tummy & my inability to handle the cooking meat smells.  One woman offered me such a simplistic solution.  She often buys a large amount of meat and will cook, divide, & freeze it for later use.

It’s so simple, it’s ridiculous.

Ok, it doesn’t solve my queasiness, but it makes the overall job of trying to fill my freezer a little easier.

I could’ve found a volunteer to stand at the stove and cook for me, but I was feeling bold this afternoon.

We have this wonderful locally owned family grocery/butcher chain here.  The butcher sells 95% lean ground sirloin which is really great.  It is so lean that you don’t have to drain it after it is cooked.  In fact, if you do drain it, it tastes dry & boring.  So, that saves me an additional nasty job.

Like I said, I was feeling bold this afternoon.  I bought 5 pounds of that ground sirloin and I was determined to cook it today.  I was pleasantly surprised that my queasiness is actually getting better.  I divided it up into 5 ziploc storage bags and it is already chilling nicely.

I’ve got the veggies and supplies to try out 2 new casserole recipes from the rather Duggar Familyesqe Taste of Home Casseroles cookbook I picked up.  76 comfort food recipe cards!  I’m kind of excited.

Ok, I have a very tragic (to me), yet funny (to you) story to share.

Yesterday I was closing the closet doors in the boys’ room.  I was distracted by the boys.  I accidently closed the sliding doors on my left nipple.  Go ahead and laugh.  It was AWFUL at the time…seriously, this hurt so much that I was face down on the changing table sobbing uncontrollably in pain.  It scared Gus…he cried and clung to me and begged me to stop crying.  It was awful.   My nip still smarts.

5 Things That Make Me Happy:

  1. The 3 hour glucose test is over.
  2. I still have 2 nipples.
  3. My children have become wrestlers.  I swear, I could put video of them going at eachother on YouTube.  Mattson can totally kick Gusser’s @ss.
  4. Tomorrow is a boring, do nothing day.
  5. I’m *this close* to bailing on the Auction.  When it happens, I will have zero guilt.

also, ryn: i’m sure Baby will be fine under anesthesia. most pets are. this was just a really bad week. just make sure they do pre-op blood work (if it’s an anesthetic dental) to make sure as best as possible that everything is good with her before putting her under.

OMG OW!!! Ow. Your poor nip. I am glad it’s still intact!

I actually shuddered when I read about your poor nipple. Good Lord, woman! I had fully intended on making meals, etc. before Karsen made his big debut. Guess he showed me, huh?!? I have fingers crossed you passed your test!

Wow, you were ambitious! I couldn’t go anywhere near meat for my entire pregnancy. Of course, once I had Christina I was requesting take out from Outback IN the hospital (I’m not kidding). I have some good Crock Pot recipes if you’d like them.

I give you permission to bail on the Auction. I think you must for you and your family. There should be no guilty when it is for your family. I’m so sorry for your nipple.
