1763 Enjoy the silence
Saucy Scale: 10
Ahhhhh…do you hear that? That’s the sound of silence. Both of my children are in the care of either nursery school or Parents Day Out. It’s only for a short time, but I’m enjoying it.
I did have a little work this morning. Every few months I have to go to Mattson’s PDO and go through an annoying process to get him signed-up. See, he’s officially registered for 1 day of PDO each week. There is no guarantee of the actual day of the week he’ll be in PDO. While I would’ve LOVED to have just signed him up for a permanent spot every Thursday morning, that’s not how they do things. Three times a year I have to go sit in a first-come first-served line with the other moms to request my PDO dates. It is designed to be "fair" to everyone, but I find it really annoying & I don’t really see how the system makes things more fair.
Anyhoo…I had to go register Mattson for the next 3 months (Dec-Feb). Which only reminded me just how little time remains in this pregnancy!
I shouldn’t complain about PDO – they are doing me a HUGE favor. As I get closer to the end of pregnancy, they are allowing me to sign-up Mattson for extra days each week. [In fact, they even suggested I go ahead and sign-up Gus for a few days (even though he isn’t in the program this year).] So today’s sign-up was really important to me! That’s a huge burden lifted from me – knowing that he’s got additional childcare available in late January & all of February (and next time he’ll get signed-up for March-May).
So, while I could’ve gone to the mall or run an errand this morning, I opted to come home and sit on the couch. I updated my calendar (which I keep online via google calendar) with all the PDO dates.
I turned on the tv and enjoyed some DVR goodness! I just started recording yet another program on the Delivery Health channel…yeah for new pregnancy shows I’ve never seen!
Oh yeah…I need to call the hospital to get us registered for our "Multiples Refresher" birthing class. Then it will be time to hop in the car & go pick up Gus at school. So, I guess I better get hopping if I want to get this done in the next 10 minutes.
5 Things That Make Me Happy:
- we all love Gusser’s nursery school
- we are grateful to have Mattson’s PDO
- 1 1/2 hours of alone down-time this morning
- the adorable Christmas jammies we bought for the boys
- comfort food.
After kids come along, the sweetest sound is definitely silence. Ok, maybe a close 2nd after a baby’s laughter.

Silence? What is this “silence” of which you speak? (She says as her kids giggle and chatter their way through yet another “nap”)

Girl, you knocked up again!? Congratulations! You need to get your man’s tubes tied, though. You’re giving Angelina a run for her money.

That’s more Orthodox than reform- but what you’re really not supposed to do is BUY them anything.. so you cant have a nursery set up or ANYTHING. *screams* See- I really like the names of your boys though- what I dont like are the million “Eva’s/Ava’s/Maddison/Addison/Carsyn’s” that everyone is doing right now.. maybe it’s because I was a Jennifer in 85 so I know what it’s like to share a name with 18 girls in a fifth grade classroom? Your boys names arent traditional, but they aren’t trendy either. I like them. A lot.
