1769 Shopping Therapy
Saucy Scale: 4
I love my boys. I really do. Today was just a tough day for mama. They worked me over hard in the last couple hours until daddy came home from work.
So, let’s talk about sweeter things…in the midst of Christmas shopping, I’ve picked up a few goodies for the babies…
oh yes! and my first pair of ruffle-bottomed baby girl tights! (no picture available)
We already had a navy blue JJ Cole Urban Bundle, so we picked up a pink one for baby girl …
Once we picked up that bargain Baby Trend Snap N Go Stroller via my Mothers of Twins group…
…we needed two car seats of same make & model (you have to move the settings around according to your car seat brand, so they have to be the same). We already have a perfectly good Graco Snugride, so we need a second one. I picked out a really cute one & my daddy will be buying it for us in January.
Because we have so much family spread across the country, we decided it is easier to make an Amazon Wish List for everyone to share for Christmas. My Wish List is overwhelmingly baby related. Seriously…there is way more stuff needed for a 2nd baby than you would imagine. You wouldn’t think so, but it’s true.
When nursing Gus, I was on the Boppy bandwagon. I added a Bosom Baby to the mix when I had Mattson. Neither of these nursing pillows will cut it when attempting to juggle two nursing babies simultaneously.
This is the EZ-2-Nurse Twin Nursing Pillow:
I do have one honest to goodness decision to make, however.
Back when BPA became a big news item, I wasn’t confident that our bottles were safe. So, I donated all our baby bottles. I figured once the BPA situation was resolved I could invest in new BPA (etc.)-free bottles whenever we found ourselves expecting again. And…here we are…needing to get a supply of bottles and I’m perplexed.
I’m going to invest in some additional Medela products – b/c we have a Medela breast pump. Other than that, I don’t know which direction to go.
5 Things That Make Me Happy:
- The boys and the dog all have fresh haircuts
- These babies move around like CRAAAAAZY, especially in the evening
- We watched a DVRed episode of Pushing Daisies tonight that was seriously the funniest episode ever! (Ok, we are very sad to see this show going off the air.)
- Hubby brought home dinner for me tonight. I’m ready for a piece of that pie I saw in my fridge!
-
Ok, I’m feeling much perkier now…my children are asleep and tomorrow is another day.
Born Free are BPA-free plastic, as are the Medela bottles. I think Medela has started making glass bottles, as well. I have a Green to Grow bottle for Margaret, she only uses it once in a while at daycare when I’m too busy to visit. I did see the Adiri Natural Nurser recently and I’m intrigued by it because it looks like a boob! 😀 http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2968119 xo

Wow, that twin nursing pillow is pretty amazing. For what it’s worth, I did glass bottles and have an Adiri “boob” bottle. Glass is safe but you know, comparatively heavy. The Adiri was better received (relatively anyway) and easy to clean since it’s just 1 piece and big enough not to have to use those brush scrubbers. It can leak all over during filling if you don’t put the stopper on it tightly, though. Not a big deal, but just a little bit of a surprise the first time. Spawn never really took to bottles (boob shaped or not), so none of it got much use. Mmm…. pie!

That’s why I went with the Playtex Drop In System, no bpa worries. Man that is some cute baby stuff for sure 🙂

We use and love the Avent bottles – but we only hand wash. My other mommy friends are all about the Born Free. I haven’t heard them complain about them at all.

i use born free bottles & i love them. so easy to wash, because we can put them in the dishwasher. and i’m assuming that with two babies that will help a ton!

Personally, I would avoid glass bottles because they’ll be too heavy. Let’s be honest, the time is going to come when you’re going to have to prop at least one bottle – you want it to be as light as possible. Or, you could invest in one or two of these things http://www.littlewonders.com (I know bottle propping is not ideal, but I’m just trying to be realistic. *I* had to do it, and I only had the two of them to please!) Also, do you know about these? http://www.pacifeeder.com or http://www.podee.com My girls never loved them, but they came through for us in a pinch once or twice! /end twin-mom-know-it-all-ness

I love my doctor browns bottles and they are BPA free as well. I have a few faves that use the Adiri – but since I already have a few doctor browns stashed (those that did not get lost in the car, stroller, store, walk, playground, house, you get my drift? haha) I am going to keep with those, they are kind of a PITA to clean, because they have this nifty little thing in the middle of them that youhave to take out (it keeps babies from getting gas which for Sam was a LIFE SAVER) but you need to take it out to clean it or it will smell funky. I always put mine in the dishwasher – these were the ones I had http://www.thedailygreen.com/cm/thedailygreen/images/xn/DrBrowns_GlassBottle7oz-lg.jpg PS. I want to make the twins cute twinsie onesies- my gift to them- any ideas?

I am so going to get that nursing pillow and a couple of “Baby B Real” dolls for my Halloween costume this year. It’s like a bra made out of baby heads!
