1780 Still cold here
Saucy Scale: 8
Well gosh, it’s downright balmy compared to yesterday. It’s merely -6 degrees (-23 degrees windchill) today.
Still too cold for the school district, apparently. No nursery school. Ugh. The boys are trapped in the house again. We’re keeping our sanity…I don’t know how, but somehow we’re doing it.
Whoa…I may have spoken too soon.
The Brio trains appear to be the source of much strife for these boys. Maybe we need to get Mattson an age appropriate train set of his own. I’m so tired of the screeching and yelling!
Anyhoo…
We haven’t talked about it in awhile, so let’s get you caught up on the housing situation.
When we signed up with the builder to design the home of our dreams, the deal was simple:
- We sell our house
- They won’t start building the new house until the 1st step is accomplished
- If our house didn’t sell (by an agreed upon date), the deal would be cancelled & we get all our deposit money back
Well, that deadline has come and gone. Our house didn’t sell. We went in to sign the appropriate paperwork to have a check cut for our refund.
Which is both a good thing and a sad thing at the same time. We both really wanted that dream house. It was going to be the house for our family to grow. We were going to raise our children there & have enough space to NEVER have to move again.
One reason I can call this a "good thing" is b/c we didn’t want to pay out the nose and get ripped off in either the selling or buying deals. So, maybe things will get better financially if we just sit and wait.
The other reason would be the timing of selling & moving and waiting for our dream house to be built while raising 2 high-energy boys and giving birth to twins. You dig?
After a short break, we are welcome to come back and start the entire process over again. (Luckily they keep all our design selections on file so that we don’t have to go through that craziness again.) We might. We might look at existing homes that are on the market in the same area. Who knows.
So, the fun new twist for today…
We’ve had our home listed with a realtor. That listing has also just ended. Every single realtor in town is apparently well aware of that fact. They’ve been calling the house all day trying to get us to choose them for the next listing. Seriously, with all these phone calls, I can see today’s nap-time going down the toilet!
Grrrr…
LOOKING AT THE CLOCK…
It is time to feed Monkeys #1 and #2 some lunch!
5 Things That Make Me Happy:
- The casserole my MIL made us & left in the freezer…especially since it has been waaay too cold to get to the grocery store! Dinner’s a snap tonight!
- It might be crazy cold, but at least we’ve got sunshine to keep us sane!
- Lunch. We’re all hungry!
- Followed by a few quiet minutes & then nap-time!
- One of Gus’s favorite words is: lollygagging (oh man, that kid cracks me up!)
No hitting, no pushing, no shoving, and no lollygagging!

My 2 kids have their own seperate set of toys. However, they always want what the other one has. Never fails. You are coming along awesomely!

UNPLUG the phone- thats what I do for every nap time.

That is a pretty sophisticated word for a little kid. He’s a genious! Too bad about the dream house, but at least you can get your deposit back. That’s a hard deal to beat.

Definitely good about getting your deposit back considering TBU’s company situation. Everything happens for a reason, and it’s good that you wouldn’t have to redo the dream design should the dream be again feasible.

I am sorry about the house. I imagine that even though you sound positive that it’s pretty disappointing!! On another note, I can’t believe only 60 more days until the twins. This seems like it’s gone kind of quickly!! How are you feeling?
