Myspace deletes 29,000 users!

Normally I’m all for not letting sex offenders be able to hunt out kids, but deleting people’s my space and some states requiring sex offenders to list their emails in their registry is absolutely ludicrious. Think about it, you get busted having sex in public, or heaven forbid urinating in public, you now have to register as a sex offender if they haul you in and process you.

This means you get put on the sex offender registry and to have your email listed. Can you believe that? Now not only are you going to get TONS of junk spam from spiders who search out emails on web sites, but now you are going to get harrassed and called a pervert.

While sex with a minor is a bad thing, and should not be allowed to happen, and child rape and abuse is even worse.. those aren’t the only people who end up on the sex registry list.

I don’t care if a prostitute has a myspace… s/he’s likely not to be looking for customers here.. to risky to get busted. Oh and the child predators… WHY in gods name would they give their real names in registering for email or myspace? Really think about it? If one is looking for a child they are likely to not want to get caught again so they are more likely to use fake name and ages. Its not that hard to do.

29,000 people’s profiles got deleted according to MSNBC’s news article. Out of those, how many are actually predators of children?

While I’m on the side of child rights and protection I DO NOT want to see the loss of our constitutional rights to be stolen any more than they have been in the last 8 years.

That’s scary, and creepy to think about how many child predators *might* actually gravitate towards the internet. Blech.

My best friend got deleted today. But Iknow for a FACT she’s not a sex offender. WTF?

I really liked this entry. A good friend is one of those ‘sex offenders’ who really shouldn’t be in that category (had sex w/ a 17 yr. old when he was 18, her parents pressed charges, blah blah blah.) It’s rapidly turning into a witch hunt. I am also concerned about the affect it could have on our constitutional rights.
