Thoughts.

The world right now is really stressing me out.

In New Orleans, my ancestors’ graves from hundreds of years ago have been laid to waste. People looting stores for good reasons (i.e. they have no food or water) are now being arrested because marshall law has been slapped down, because other people are looting TV’s and VCR’s and other such valuables. It deeply disturbs me that those looting unnecessarily are claiming that they are recieving their just rewards for having been oppressed all these years. Don’t they understand that the people they are looting from may be just as poor as they are?

It bothers me that right now, citizens of the U.S. are more worried about the rising gas prices than they are about their fellow man. There are people trapped on their rooftops surrounded by up to 20 feet of water with no drinking water, no food, and they are not being rescued. People in boats are passing by people swimming, drowning, and not picking them up.

Have we become such a corrupted society that we will not stop to help a dying person lying in the street. In the stadium there are people trapped inside, lying there dead. Outside the stadium there are corpses in the street. Rescue vehicles are driving by without stopping to talk to those standing in crowds, like sheep, waiting for a single answer.

I’ve heard religious leaders saying that this is God striking His wrath down upon the sinful city. What happened to hating the sin but loving the sinner? When there are children, innocent children dying of thirst, surrounded by all they knew laid to waste, where is God? Where are our religious leaders?

Where is our political leader? All over the news are reports of what Bush to doing to stop the rising gas prices, emergency actions he’s taking to stop the rising gas prices. What about emergency actions to save dying U.S. citizens who are trapped in their own homes and cannot be rescued?

I can stay somewhat silent about foreigners being killed overseas over a lost war. War is war, and shit happens. But these are our own human citizens, our own U.S. citizens who are crying out in their weak and dying voices for help, and the president is turning a deaf ear to them.

I am truly sickened and saddened by these events, and absolutely appauled by the actions our “leader” is taking. Never before have I regretted so much having George W. Bush as a president.

And never before have I regretted so much those who are so blinded by their faith that they will condemn to death those who need to be saved the most. I feel it is those who most loudly proclaim their faith over the lives of the innocent and dying who will be sent to Hell.
