Lifting for 5-9-9

Anyway, I skipped my Thursday workout because I stayed up too late Wednesday night. I was to meet Candi in the library, and I didn’t want to be too late. So. I figure I’ve been pretty dedicated, I can cut myself some slack.

Did get to a jog yesterday morning. Felt atrocious as usual. I do wonder whether I’ll be able to subject myself to this masochism. Jogging feels like uncomfortableness from start to finish. Did four intervals of about a half mile, totaling two miles. Did I mention I felt awful?

Tired this morning, and wasn’t in the mood. Weird, because I was feeling in the mood last night.

    NROL, Fat Loss II
    Day B, Workout VIII

    Rest: 45 sec between exercises

    Alternating Sets
    Snatch-grip Deadlift: 10, 10, 10 @ 155 lb
    Push-up-Row: 3×10 @ 20 lbs

    Alternating Sets
Bulgarian Split Squat with Overhead Press: 3×10 @ 10 lbs
    Supinated Lat Pull: 3×10 @ 130 lbs (+10 lbs)

    Alternating Sets
    RDL with Row: 3×10 @ 90 lbs
Lower Body Russian Twist: 3×10 @ BW

Metabolic Overdrive: 4 rounds on elliptical (1 minute hard, 2 minutes recovery)

I feel exhausted and tired. I felt weak the entire workout, though I did have a decent pacing between pairings, rather than dawdling too much. Think I’ll take a nap before work.

I almost wish I’d bought the nrol for men. But I’m going to give this a shot before complaining too much. I’d like some feedback from you on splitting up my workout. Read my entry for more info. Are you eating before running? Hydrated? Shoes might help, you know. Do you know what kind of arches you have? You can get running shoes relatively cheap at Sierra Trading Post. I try them on locally before ordering though. I’m pretty miserable at the beginning of my run, but it gets better as it progresses. I can’t imagine continuing to do something that didn’t bring any pleasure, but I’m a wuss.

I agree about jogging! It’s nothing but self inflicted torture. I was talking to a guy in my backgammon group recently who goes to a lot of marathons and other races throughout the year, and I was thinking “what hell!”, and then I asked “do you… actually LIKE running?” and it turned out he truly enjoys it. It’s not a means to an end, it’s intrinsically enjoyable as a thing to do. Then it hit me, maybe those runners clubs aren’t just a support club to help everyone keep torturing themselves for the sake of fitness, maybe most of them also actually find it pleasurable. hard to imagine!

not everyone gets that runner’s high. I am one of them that definitely doesn’t. despite detesting running, I’ve certainly run long and short and intervals and every other type of running you can imagine, in shape and out, and never once did I get even a hint of a high.

ryn: nrolfw. I understand they are similar.
